New planets coming right...?

I had to laugh out loud at that one!

After the history of ED that we have had, do you honestly believe that Odyssey will be anything other than bear bones?
I'll be amazed if we get any significant improvement to terrains like the artistic impressions of ice world's we were promised.
And Blown Away if space legs turns out to be more than foot based pew pew in some ground bases and sampling a few 'life forms' with a portable widget.
Expectations definitely set at 'sub par' for me here!

Not buying the hype? Haha! Seems were going to have two games in one. A modern looking one and the one from 2015?

I am not sure how we go from this, to this... are we going to have all landable planets looking cool and modern day, or just some planets and the other will still be the same old blah look?

I mean, they can't have the first image with still having the same old, second image, planets! No!!! I wonder if we all get to fight over Dav's Hope resources, or control over to the base?! Ha! It IS abandoned, so first come, first claimed I guess!

Dav's Hope h a s already been claimed... By the gankers.

Can you even begin to imagine the "Ganking" that Odyssey is going to bring? Wow! If you really get to "take over" a base, or outpost, whatever, there's going to be nothing but the Russian mafia group of players killing every player on foot in sight! You think you're going to just get to land your ship and have a causal stroll into FF front office? Ha! Not sure how this is going to work out. The problem with an MMO, is that they bring with them very mean people. A sense of "Community" turns into a sense of KILL IT!!!!!! Don't let him make it to the engineer, they must DIE!!! So yeah, anything that can be "owned" or visited on foot, will have nothing but killers lurking in every corner, just wanting to snipe you with a plasma rifle to the head!

Honestly, before FDEV started working on Odyssey, I think they should have worked on a "Worlds" DLC. They gave us Horizons, but now they should have created something like "New Horizons" with Earth likes and strange new planets with atmospheres, with lava, lakes, oceans of water and methane. But who really knows what's going to be Odyssey. Maybe we'll get some of that. I'd be happy just encountering the occasional comet or rouge planet. Maybe some caves to explore. I think though, trying to turn ED into a realistic NMS, is just far beyond the scope of the engine they use, or the work that it would require. This is almost a 7 year old game, and it shows  Although, as far as a Space sim goes, not much can touch ED, if anything. They've got the flying a ship down pretty well! Although, what's with "Glide" to landing? That's always very odd to me, there's no atmosphere to "glide" on. What it really is, is the time they need to load the "assets" into memory ;)
Maybe there will be evolutions in the future, surely.

I always hope for planets with atmosphere, flora and fauna, oceans, rivers, lakes etc .. :)

That may be true for any one given volcano, but on a large planet with lots of volcanoes, there should be at least one erupting somewhere. On Earth, which isn't a particularly active planet by comparison, there are usually about 10-20 active, erupting volcanoes at any given moment. So for a space tourist wanting to "visit Earth to see the volcanoes" they'd just fly around until they spotted one erupting from orbit, and go down to visit that one.

Jupiter's moon Io, by comparison, is a much smaller world but has 150 volcanoes active at any one time. The trick there is finding a volcano that isn't erupting.
When I said there is one eruption per century, it was kind of a metaphor.

I wanted to say that it is not tomorrow that we will have volcanoes. :)

There was a time, this was all we could talk about and could not wait for new planets to arrive,

Tenuous atmosphere or not, Is this not new exploration content in and of itself?
Experiment....put a 20 sec plastic bag over your head, walk across your livingroom room. Then walk across your livingroom with the same bag but this time fart/poot/pass gas...that's tenuous atmosphere!
