New player - Beam Eye Tracker + Opentrack

Pretty weird. I've used Opentrack with this game since 2016 and it has always just worked. Never worried about it recognising the game or anything either. Didn't know it can even do that, but I'm using pretty ancient version by now. I have only updated it sporadically over the years. If it works, don't mess with it, right?

not that it should make any difference but is your game installation on the c drive?

Thanks for all those of you who tried to help. I really appreciate your efforts.

I’m going to give up on this for now. I switched to a HOTAS this afternoon (T Flight Hotas One - yes, I know!) and completed the initial training missions.

To be honest, as an old guy, the spinning and movement was pretty gut churning without headtracking and I had trouble enough with the combat missions just trying to keep the targets on the screen!

I had a real issue with headtracking in Star Wars Squadrons. It works as expected, but I find I get hugely disorientated in combat.

I really like headtracking in MSFS which of course is much slower paced, but even then I sometimes have to switch it off.

If I do subsequently find a solution I’ll post it here for future seekers.

Thanks again everyone!
3000+ hours in Elite on a T.Flight hotas X without any issues here, nothing wrong with them at all.

do you have a frontier folder in this location? (may require show hidden files and folders enabled in your pc control panel file and folders options)
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments
(the reason i ask is although my original install was on drive d an update put it there for some unknown reason making the d drive install redundant which was not a problem for me as i had the space anyhoo)

Yes,
In that path I have 3 folders:

Frontier Developments
Frontier_Developments
Frontier_Developments_Ltd

Tne first contains a folder called ‘Elite Dangerous’ and mutliple sub folders.
The second contains one file - specs.xml
The third contains a folder whose name begins “EDLaunch.exe_Url …. and in that folder is a folder called 1.7.6976.0 which contains a single file called ‘user.config’.

well as long as frontier_developments does not contain a products folder you should be ok on that regard.....
*so back to the drawing board regarding BET and OT:(

the only other thing i can think of that may interrupt the way OT works is possibly any adittiional steam controller options
so maybe try disabling those if any are setup🤷‍♂️

someone got theres working only by using another users OT profile file 🤷‍♂️
Thanks for your contunuing support!
Tried the .ini from your link.
Nowt changed!

No problem!
I think I may have made some progress - Earlier I set up an ICU profile (corsair lighting) to switch case and ambient lighting when ED starts.
This doesn't work either, so I am now convinced that something, probably the Epic Games Launcher, is obscuring the .exe of the game from certain other apps.
I'm going to do a deep dive ...

Might be a bit random, but maybe try using minimal ED launcher to eliminate/reduce Epic from the chain. I've not used it with Epic before personally, but it has support for it and maybe iCue and your tracking software will be able to see ED then. Total shot in the dark, but could be worth a try?
