New red-orange dot approaching the bubble at 0.8ly per minute-- Thargoid mothership?

interesting thinking
what ever made anyone think they are from col 70 area or milky way at all?

Most intrigued to read these various theories regarding the origin of this apparently ancient species that humans have termed “Thargoid” - they may well originate outside of this galaxy even, considering their considerably superior hyperspace abilities…

…and then there is even the theory that they may be a kind of self-replicating bio-mech technology, developed by a Guardian faction, leading to their own (possibly intentional) extinction? 👽

How do we know the Stargoids are all on the same side?
It seems they are all using similar drive technology but that's about it. They did not all appear at once right after the Proteus Wave was fired, so perhaps some of them are responding to the presence of other Stargoids instead. We cannot visually distinguish between ships in supercruise, after all, we have to scan them - it would be great if there was some way of doing this here.

fwiw, we know so little
there is the possibility that witchspace is not anything like we think it is.
it is possible there is life in witchspace and that we have found a small amount of it.
if any truth exists in that, they and many others could be anywhere.
the supposed ships/stations aka UIA'a might not even be used for travel of life forms
I didn't notice an atmosphere of any kind at all inside the crashed ships.
are there any physical things like planets there?
is it similar to folding or warping space, or is it a different space, like a dimension?
and if dimensions are a thing here, o more questions...
I wonder if the use/discovery of witch space was done by smart aliens or was it a natural bit of evolution for a creature that can fly in space.
if space insects exist
what about space whales
what about space dino's
space mosquito
where does it end, what more types of life are there, what is at the top of the food chain
or a fluke of mother nature and only 1 life form survived the trials of survival of the fittest.
etc...

besides the possibility of some of these UIA's being the other Thargoid faction,
as I hinted at once in this thread, maybe something else likes the taste of Thargoids.

on our planet, everything eats something.

why not?
we have space mollusks
on our own earth we have life being constantly born in toxic super hot under water vents.
on our own planet life is in places it shouldn't exist, all this says, is how little we know about what life is and any life form, including our own.

eventually we may get to know some answers.

It has to do with signals sent to Col 70 Sector FY-N C21-3 from Thargoid-related items (probes or sensors, can't remember exactly which). I've been out to that area in the Flame Sector area where one can get within 5 or 6 jumps of that system, but that's as close as you can get.

You can also take a look at this post for more detail (note this is from June 2018)

Please make a POT of coffee for just the first post, may require re-reading just to let it all sink in, but it'll really answer the question you asked.

Not to go off on a tangent, but there was a report (as the game got off the ground) that, in game lore, there was an ancient artifact of some kind found on Mars, hinting at a third alien race out there somewhere. The mysterious race known only as "The Developers" have never run with that thread for the length of this game's life other than to mention it at all in passing. I think it would be funny if these 7 items belong to that third race as a surprise to everyone.

Sure. But that just shifts the question to "what plot requires/is assisted by the Thargoids coming from these directions?"
I guess here's my slightly longer answer.

UIA 1 appeared to originate from the Cone Sector, which is permit locked. Ok.. maybe there's something at the origin, and we can anticipate seeing it in a future region unlock.

But subsequent UIAs are being discovered on day dot of their appearance, with some of those origins being already unlocked.

Is there something to discover in those systems, on planet surfaces? Maybe.

But what i mean more by "because plot" is that i don't think it matters where they originated from. The plot demands that a bunch of (gonna call it... eight) these UIAs appear and "start moving across the galaxy to some ultimate destination where they'll do something". That's the "plot" bit... but their origin of appearance?

I originally thought it might be meaningful, but I'm less convinced now, especially since it's not without precedent for some other things.

Looks like I'm picking up eight from Trapezium Sector ZU-X C1-6, plus degraded emission. Sorry, still seven. But picked up large data cache. I'm so antsy, with all these signals, it is a good thing I don't have a weapon in my hand.

Well, just arrived in Prooe Drye BU-U a43-0 and UIA7 is faintly visible (not helped by the fact that system star here is a L class dark red). There is a system a lot closer, looking at Canonn's tracker. But there's already been a few hyperD's around here, including a hostile one. So, I'll play it safe for now.

Journey out from the bubble was a bit of a pain in the last 20 jumps. Quite a number of brown and methane dwarves and tauri stars.

And I had to open my big mouth....

Decided to jump away from Prooe Drye BU-U a43-0 to Prooe Drye SA-U d4-90 for a moment to grab some fuel and this happens.

As per vid decription:
-----------------
Just jumped away to a fuel star about 5Lys away to top up, and this happens. A bit clipped at the start as I fudged hitting the record key.

Last time I had one of these I was sporting Mil-Grade armour, two hull re-enforcements and a module re-enforcement package, so it wasn't too bad. This time was just Light Alloy with G5 Heavy Duty and one hull re-enforcement.

Good job I don't do cardboard and tissue paper builds for UIA spotting...
------------------

Thanks to the EDMC Canonn plugin though, my little escapade has now ended up on their tracker for a hostile hypeD, so that's a pointless moment of anonymous fame. :p

Update: Hull repaired and all modules repaired except the obvious (power plant and AFMU).
