New red-orange dot approaching the bubble at 0.8ly per minute-- Thargoid mothership?

At least out to a few thousand LY, anyway.

Not sure exactly what the range limit is for them to be detectable as opposed to just adding to the signal count, but it's less than 22,000 LY.
It's odd that, unlike degraded emissions, they don't stay "tagged" in the FSS but I guess that has to do with the distance.

Now racing towards UIA 2 in SC, just crossed over 1000c and climbing. Let's see how long the fuel holds out before I have to jump out to refuel, then jump back to start again.

For Science and all that.

can someone explain to me what is going on with #4? The Canonn spreadsheet lists a target that is ludicrously far away and lists it as broken. I have targeted the last traversal system, and there is a UIA in the FSS slightly next to it. Is it worth investigating the area? What exactly is broken?

it had decided to go on holiday (it was broken), and i last located to approximately Drojia MV-Y d0 at 03:30 UTC this morning, said system is a fair distance away from where it was supposed to be...

yes I get that. But I am jumping towards the area where it was before (Wredguia AJ-A b14-1), and in the FSS I can clearly see a RSS near that system, and I am unable to locate it near Drojia, neither the RSS nor via audio. That is the part I don't get.

addendum: I am 700 and some ly from the source system of #4, and I can see it. Not saying Canonn is wrong... but did nobody bother checking?
i've been checking it every day! of course we "bothered", why do you think i flew almost 5k Ly's just to confirm it's (broken) position at 03:00 this morning?!

edit: we have to sleep at some point, and guess when the change happened?

the last time #4 had a confirmed working flyby was at Wredguia AJ-A b14-1 on 04/11/2022 19:06:54, and we have been monitoring it in a broken state ever since, until today.

aaand I am sane again. The Canonn spreadsheet was just updated with a valid position - Wredguia ZC-B b27-0.
Don't be so thin skinned. I was genuinely confused.

Still kind of feel like you owe me an apology for barking at me, because I was right ;). The Canonn spreadsheet was wrong when I looked at it ten minutes ago :).
Really, loosen up a bit.

Ok, don't want to get into a fight here, but sometimes FD (you know, the actual developers) may have gotten something wrong with their programming on these things and it causes a glitch in the position of these things. I've seen several of them over the past two weeks. It happens.

When Canonn's spread sheet says a position is broken it means the UIA is not doing what it is supposed to be doing, hence he statement there. Eventually, someone has to sleep so on occasion the sheet doesn't get updated for a day or so. RL, that game we all love to hate, does insist on our attention, like it or not.

The person(s) updating the sheet are doing us all a favor, so if one is marked "broken" one should leave that one alone for a time being and go chase another one instead. It'll get updated eventually once new observations and data are introduced.

You might have seen something before the other person did. Others may see something before you do. Lag doesn't just happen in MMO's.

Now, continue on, commander.

I'm didn't say anyone did something wrong or anyone owes me to do his or her work. I just don't like being barked at, especially when I stated clearly and multiple times that I was confused and didn't understand it. I'm too old to be lectured on the internet. No fight here. Glad it was cleared up for me.

And by the way... my commentary about "not bothering" was clearly tongue in cheek. Sorry if that didn't come across.

Back to our regularely scheduled program. Film at 11.

Again, for those interested, I am in Wredguia VM-B B27-0 and have timed #4 with a stop watch. It is approaching the system at a speed of arount 0.73 ly/h and is around 519 million ls away, which is around 16.49 ly. At that speed it will arrive in about 22.5 hours, if it keeps its speed, and this is indeed the correct system. At least the approach speed is a tad higher than in the neighbouring systems.

I've been listening to it for about ten minutes now while doing some calculations. I hear at least four layers of sounds repeating at different frequencies. Nothing I would describe as "digital", like the fax or modem sound I described above. Everything sounds very organic in nature, maybe apart from the distorted hiss in the background. The most constant sound to me is the one that sounds like the submarine drives from 80s cold war movies :). The sound is oddly captivating.
