Hi All

Jeeze!..this topic thread keeps me smiling
And everyone needs to keep complaining about the exposed "cargo racks" so they add a ship kit that covers its ugly rump!
Cause regardless of how well PCmk2 performs I will still be incredibly disappointed in its anorexic looking body. All of its bulk is in the "thighs" and "chest" of the ship!
I've mentioned it previously in this thread I think, but I'm thinking similar to you. I just feel graphically the ship could do with a bit more...

...well, back end enlargement or slight extension, as in actual flight it looks...well again, as you describe. As I mentioned earlier perhaps the cargo rack/s could be extended backwards a bit?....and the main hull to be extended backwards around it....if that makes any sense.
My take on PC2 is by running the quickest of calculations pro rata against the T9. David Braben stated on 'X' it would just fit in the station slot, which gives about very, very approx. a max 200m wide and 50 deep. Considering the Cutter only just fits longitudinally at 193m on the large pad, then we can assume the max length is also 200M.
Is the maximum length of a large landing pad 200 metres?....I honestly don't know.

I was just wondering as to whether the present design length of the Panther Clipper (if known) was somewhere around this maximum length. That would probably mean the
total length of the Panther Clipper is near that maximum
when in a landed position (which would possibly rule out any extension to it's design length being longer than that).
i am wondering if i should keep some materials to 1 side just in case they release an entire new class of drive for it.
That's exactly what I've done, or as I'm presently also doing other stuff I'm still keeping an eye on materials needed for those engineered SCO drives. I
think I've got most of the materials and any data for engineering some more drives but of course that's assuming a Panther Clippers drive follows the previous construction criteria

...it may well be that completely new components and materials are needed for those multiple thruster engines, and maybe generally new modules

......

A new size of SCO drive
might require 2 Titan Drive Components, and other rare stuff.
If that was the whole point then this ship would have taken the place of the Corsair. Because that was during peak "OMG HOW MANY TRIPS FOR A SPACE STATION!!!??!???".
That's where I couldn't and still don't really understand the logic of Frontier in this regard, why release a ship that is clearly not connected with Colonisation
now when clearly the Panther to all intents and purposes would have probably slipped quite easily into this niche (given the 'expected' specs.) role, with the current new feature?
I seem to remember some forum poster mentioning 'Vanguards', and the Corsair was somehow connected to this feature?...but I'm unclear if there is such a thing yet.
Hi
Well, I'm neither fazed nor phased by THAC0 (basic subtraction)...
As a victim/survivor/escapee of American public education I can sympathise with the frustrations of enduring inept teachers and counterproductive forms of pedagogy. Personally, I did ok in math, but I failed multiple years of art, music, English, Spanish and physical education. On the plus side, my experience completely stripped me of any pretense of work ethic (my grades seemed far more dependent on the personal fiat of my supposed teachers than any amount of effort), indeed so alienated me from the concept of working for anyone or anything other than myself, that I've never had any use for the credentials they declined to give me after I stopped showing up.
On a side note, my advice for all of those who have already failed at late-stage capitalism (by having the temerity to not be born rich), is to do these three things to become successful:
- Cook your own food.
- Cut your own hair.
- Trade all externalized vices (like substance abuse and ostentatious materialism, which are expensive) for internalized ones (teetotalism and the associated smug sense of superiority, for example, is free).
- Marry a doctor.
Now I'm thinking about writing and self-publishing a self-help book to help offset the cost of all these tariffs.
I think Frontier is about fart in a lot of navigator's spice tanks.

...Well, if I could go back 65 years to 'that' day knowing what I do now I probably would have been expelled from school after poking that teacher in the eye! (at least)

If the same kind of thing had happened today?...the teacher would most likely have been dismissed from the job.
Ah!...I see, I excelled at art (My dad was a pretty good artist and painted many fine pictures in oils and watercolours, so that's where I got encouragement from) mediocre at sport
until I took an interest in cross country running at about 14yrs old which then blossomed out into track events 880 yards and the mile, (I should've kept it up through later life

).
Marry a doctor?...I didn't marry a doctor, but that's seriously sound advice as my male nephew married a doctor / nurse and she turned out to be a great help to my elder brother and my parents, she also had a great honest character. Unfortunately my nephew strayed off the narrow path and they eventually got a divorce (silly man

)
Now I'm thinking about writing and self-publishing a self-help book to help offset the cost of all these tariffs.

If you ever get round to writing and publishing it I'd like to buy a copy please!
Sounds like RAH.
As for your third point - growing your own is simple. I got fresh parsley, leeks and tomatoes right outside my window.
Ah!...a gardener!

I'm just starting stuff off in my own greenhouse and veg garden (It's spring here in the UK btw.) So in a few months time I'm hoping to be eating some home grown salad, veg and tomatoes, which
always taste better from shop bought / supermarket ones. (true).
That's a great name for a ship btw
Rude reality... It is!

I might name mine (when I get it) 'Dangerous Whiskers' or 'Colonists Dream'...
I predict just short of 2k tons. If I'm wrong, no-one will remember this prediction, but if I'm right I'll quote it all over the place.
I get the impression at the moment 2000t is the golden figure (for some players)

or at least a compromising one.
Has anyone considered the fact that the dev on the live stream hinted that the Panther clipper would be handled an entirely different way then any other ship? Plus it was coming with the vanguards update? AI commanders who can fly ships at the same time as you or could co-pilot the Panther clipper anyone considered that theory? Not like SLF.
Okay, this has partly answered my previous question

...So it wasn't the Corsair that was connected to Vanguards but it was the Panther Clipper?
Is there any more in depth information readily available concerning what the Vanguards Update is all about, and it's connection with the Panther?
Jack
