New Ships When?

A hunch about odyssey:
Sorry, the text is in Spanish. I currently have 20 fully completed ships and over 100 fully completed weapons / modules in stock.
Triple elite, FC paid and investment recovered, all power play modules and +10,000,000,000Cr. in the bank.
37 ships bought in grade a and with reactive armor each of them.

did I miss what the hunch is?

Boring to you maybe, I prefer them.
Also: We have 14 small and 15 medium ships so far, but only 9 large, of which 3 are actually mediums restricted to large pads.
Also: The Panther is the last remaining the ship of the old lineup that hasn't been released yet, although has been shown and talked about by FD as far as 6 years ago. It's time.
(Cough) Boa....(cough) Oh, Excuse me.... ;)

@NorthernDevo: that was a nice write up and exactly my opinion, too … just about different ships.
I'm mostly using Kassiopeia, an Anaconda, optimized for long travel (but with some amenities, so with 79 ly jumprange not even close to what is possible). Most pilots would probably really loathe it but she is where my heart is. … It has to be because when I'm out in the black it usually takes weeks and many hundreds, if not thousands of jumps before I can switch to another ship.

But then I've been in Colonia for a while and wanted an agile ship (for passenger transport) and tried a Dolphin which I named Kallisto. At first it was unimpressive, but with some (not even a lot) of engineering she really became a very fun to fly ship and I'm always looking forward flying here, when I'm back in Colonia.

The same is true for my starting Sidewinder ITALKALOT. or the second ship I bought, a Cobra MKIII -- Kalypso. Originally I just bought them to be able to earn enough credits to buy an Asp Explorer -- my beloved Kassandra, so that I could finally get out there to Beagle Point (which was the very first goal I had when I originally bought the game). But a year and a half later I came back to them. They had gathered a lot of dust and I thought about selling them. Fortunately I didn't do that but gave them another chance (and some engineering) … and what shall I say other than (once more): Oh did I underestimate these two ships! Both of them fly and feel subtly different so that I take them for "a spin" depending on the "mood" I'm in. I totally agree, that the Sidewinder has a lot of overlooked potential. There is a thread somewhere where one pilot got triple elite without ever buying a ship (so he did everything in a Sidewinder).

Than there are my cargo hauling ships. Chicken of Doom -- a Type-9, and Kalliope -- a Type-7, the first flies like a brick but do I like her and her specific flying? Of course I do! She was made for that purpose and totally feels and handles (and looks) like a space truck! She is exactly what I want to fly when I'm hauling cargo. Kalliope, was just an "emergency solution" because I needed a cargo hauling ship in Colonia and didn't want to buy another T9. At that time I didn't feel flying one. After long deliberation I went for the Type-7 and again: OMG! Did this ship surprise me!

Finally my newest purchase: Frigg (I ran out of greek goddesses), an Imperial Courier. I bought her just because of the cockpit view. And despite engineering was I rather disappointed in the beginning. I didn't make a combat ship out of her but rather another explorer for short routes (so just a couple of hundreds jumps in and around the bubble). She has some shortcomings in that role … but than … approx. 200 jumps into my journey I suddenly realize, that I'm tremendously enjoying flying her, and looking out of her cockpit. She is such a great (small) ship!

I have another Anaconda --Kassandra, equiped for combat. In the beginning I was very disappointed. But after the help of some other pilots I managed to engineer her to my liking. But she will be the only ship I'll decommission, once I'm buying a Corvette.

And yes, these are all the ships I ever had. Despite me flying since almost three years. No grind for the big three … I'll just get it by natural gameplay.

And even after three years I'm still very surprised at how different all the ships fly and how much of a "personality" they have once you get to know them (after a couple of hours flying with them).
Great post!
I'm wondering what your thoughts were when choosing 'K' names - you just prefer them? I MUST say that Kassiopeia, Kalypso and Kalliope are WONDERFUL names.
Yes - it's not about finding a great ship, it's about making a ship great with love, loyalty, a ton of creds and a bit of Engineering. ;)

More to differentiate the ships while flying them would go a long way in easing the urge for additional rides. Customizable cockpits (more than just bobbleheads), varied instrumentation, and (cough) filled crew seats would, for me at least, make me fall deeper in love with each individual ship.

I don’t need a fleet. I need a deeper bond with the ship I already have.

Until that happens i want moar shipz.

I think its more likely we will get new SRVs... although i'm not pinning a huge hope on that. But it really is about time, and Odyssey is the best time to add them.
I originally wrote a joke response, saying I'd love a Land Raider, but now I'm tapping my chin and going 'hmmm...'.
I absolutely agree that we DO want a new SRV, but what kind? It's an interesting question.
The SRV is basically a flimsy dune-buggy; it's basic function is to fold up and fit into a small storage slot - small enough even a Sidey (which isn't as small as some people think) can carry one.
What would a new land vehicle look like? How would it perform? My first qualification would be, I think, that it be larger and not foldable. Available only to Medium and larger ships it would be more robust, have Multicrew and a greatly-reduced Boost ability.
Something like this:

(Lol back in the 80's I did my Basic and Battle School in a Grizz - I miss that thing. :) )
Note the bridge weight - 12 tons. Carrying one would have a weight cost, and it would not have much better cargo space than an SRV - to be honest, 2 tons in that flimsy little thing is a bit silly. Slightly better guns, decent armour, but that's it.
That's what I would like to see - a vehicle not much better than an SRV, certainly no faster but tougher, more reliable and capable of longer journeys away from the Mother-ship.

I've flown about half the fleet.

They're all ships I purchased as I progressed. I stopped at the T6/Asp Explorer and seriously question if I wanted one of the "Big 3" when I was able to buy an Annie.

I knew the hull cost was only the start, so looked at what I needed to A rate her.

I kept flying, and reached a point where I thought "I'll try and if I don't like, I can just sell the hull again".

So I did.

At first I didn't like her. Slow, and very slow.

A rated. Still slow.

Combat? OK, but overheated easily. Lost a couple to stupidity.

Engineers happened, so I started with engineered shields and thrusters.

Now she started to come alive.

I didn't do much engineering beyond this and the FSD (old system).

She became my main ship for cargo, mining, and combat.

Then...I realized I had enough for a Cutter.

I had to grind some rank as I didn't have quite enough, grinded some more for more credits, and grinded for mats for engineering.

I bought the Cutter and immediately A rated her.

What a tank! Inertia of a fully laden Supertanker that made the Annie look maneuverable!

I engineered EVERYTHING over a week or so.

I LOVE HER! My favorite ship!

The handling many would say isn't great, but if you learn to fly with her quirks, she's great fun, and can be flown with surprising precision.

I also love the shape of her hull.

I still have my Cobra Mk.III, DBX, T6, and Anaconda. The Annie has been engineered to become my long-distance explorer.

The DBX does bubble taxi duties, ferrying my SRV for surface missions.

T6 is my mission runner, and the Cobra for certain attack missions.

I'm currently engineering a Krait Mk.II for assassination missions. I'm still not totally happy with it yet, though I'm keeping the 3 beam lasers.

I'm currently engineering PAs for it.

Do we need another ship? IMHO, no, but if it happened I'd at least try it.

Yes - it's surprising what we can learn when we give a new ship a chance. :)
Recently in another post another CMDR was gushing about the Clipper; another ship I 'don't like'. She certainly LOOKS great so I'll give her a go - never know; I might find a new fave. :)

I hate to be blunt but really?
There are a total of 44 vessels (including SLFs) that can be flown - 38 Ships and 6 Fighters. You are bored with ALL of them?

It's not about getting more ships. It's about getting more OUT of the ships.
o7!

I would love to see a small combat ship strapped with all small hardpoints. 5 or 6 small hardpoints would put it on equal terms with the other small combat ships and open up loadouts that are completely unique. The possibilities that ship would allow with Cytos/Enforcers . . . drool

While I agree that we really don't need many more ships, there are certainly some niches that would be nice to realized.

The Clipper is a lovely fast ship if you can handle the drift.
Those hardpoint placements though:sick:

The game does need at least one more ship - a medium Imperial one. And I'm saying that as the most un-imperial person you can imagine.

Honestly I'd like more ships like the gutamaya line, more curves less edges. We have enough geometrically shaped ships.

Umm....

Even the classic Anaconda and Python are not as angular as their older counterparts. Certainly not that geometric.

The Fer-de-Lance is very curved compared to its old version. Same goes for the Adder. Mamba also (not in picture)

Then you've got the Saud Kruger line, very curvacious.

Out of the 38 ships, its really only the 2 Cobras, 2 Asps, and the Sidewinder that are really still recoginsably geometric.

Ah, well, if we are talking about things missing in lines, then a medium Saud Kruger might be nice as well.

Hardpoints on the Clipper are fine with gimballs or turrets. If you want to run fixed, you can put lasers on the left and MCs on the right or similar.

If you want 4 PAs or PA rails... then yeah, that's not great.

Respectfully disagree. I want this:

Those are nice edges.

Who says curves can't look nice and aggressive

I see a bunch of triangles and a few trapezoids and some bricks, only the gutamaya line breaks the mold.

Also Saud Kruger line is trying to compensate if you know what I mean.😉
