New Ships When?

Boring to you maybe, I prefer them.
Also: We have 14 small and 15 medium ships so far, but only 9 large, of which 3 are actually mediums restricted to large pads.
Also: The Panther is the last remaining the ship of the old lineup that hasn't been released yet, although has been shown and talked about by FD as far as 6 years ago. It's time.

Actually there are plenty of ships from the old lineup to go (especially if taking all 3 of the previous games into account). Moray Starboat (?) for one - perhaps ideal for those water worlds when we get them. The Constrictor(?) for another. And that's without touching the Panther Clipper. There are others but I can't remember the names right now.

I'd like to see escape pods.

With the new style of gameplay Odyssey promises, they'd be a perfect fit. On ship death, instead of the rebuy screen you transition to your pod and get a panel showing your rebuy / insurance options. Once selected, NPC rescue spawns in and scoops you, then deposits you at the nearest station. Pods would have to be non-destructable / scoopable by players, but you can handwave that as an extension of Pilot Federation permit restrictions.

Might look a bit weird if you're on the far edge of nowhere but that's still what's assumed to be happening anyway.

Even better - ship destroyed, you eject in escape pod which navigates to the nearest landable planet. You're then marooned (survival game ensues until rescued) or you make your way on foot to a settlement on the planet. Then buy a new ship or use the new taxi service to a station with a shipyard.

That'd require everyone having Odyssey, but it'd definitely be cool.

Boa, Cobra mk 1, Gecko, Moray, Worm, Transporter and Orbital Shuttle from the first game.
