New SRV in the Elite Dangerous Horizons Steam artwork?

The larger cannon might be an upgrade path so that SRVs can take down ships more easily in The Sphere of Combat™.
I hadn’t noticed that the other two SRVs in the picture are also “anti-air” variants (with the elevated cabin, the firing arc must be upwards otherwise the SRV would be getting an impromptu sun roof 🙂).

Edit: somehow I missed the earlier post by Exterminatus93, doh!

The cockpit pod is raised as per the digital art book right-most picture for the SRV variants. Be nice if we get some more Scarab stuff with the next expansion.

Slightly related: I was just one of the current Story sites, and this is the first time I've ever seen the SRV with its pod open (excepting the fan-made animation that came out a whiles back). Harbinger of things to come?

No weapon on that wreck ... no wonder the driver had to leg it. :D

Hmmm ... the opportunity to choose weapons, or not at all, being hinted at ?

But will the knockers eat one of my socks if it isn't? 🤪

Ooh. We haven't had a good sock salad for ages.

I tend to think it's just a piece of artwork BUT it would also be a very asset efficient way to go, Scarab variants. So I'd be happy to be wrong .. just not a sweet and sour sock level of happy!

Or ... it's simply a piece of art.
This looks the same ...

I just popped over to see that, and it looks like the same model used at the Story site - the gun mount is missing but everything else looks like the normal player SRV with the exception of “RT22” on the pod side-glass and further back on the chassis.

Having read the SRV log, FDev aren’t ones for happy stories, are they? 😅

It actually looks like the whole cargo/gun section on the original has been removed, from the rear lights up, and replaced with a shallower body and a much larger gun.

But I think it's just artistic licence. Because the bubble/cockpit is much higher as well, and would instantly be the end of the driver if he/she fired the gun as it's aiming at the raised cockpit ...

Suicide Pilots confirmed!

Depends if it’s articulated when deployed I guess. Or if it’s an anti-air rig that’s only designed to shoot upwards...

Could def just be artistic license for sure (along with other possible variant at the bottom of the shot). Would be a strange choice as the main pic for the rebrand though.
