Concept art. What is there evolved into what we have now.

Maybe. But it seems to be new concept art, or at least new to the public. A Google Reverse Image Search shows no reliable copies older than a few weeks ago.

And for what it’s worth, the same artwork was updated into the Xbox game launcher and marketplace when Horizons became free a few days ago.

Your theory that the SRV “evolved” from this art would suggest the art was made when Horizons was still being developed, years ago. It would be weird for FDev to suddenly update its promo material with something that ancient.

I’m not saying it’s impossible, just keeping an open mind here.

I think it's the scarab, the rear box looks like it's been drawn too small so it makes the weapon sit lower than usual, but the rest looks like it's identical.

Looks like there's no texture on that turret, probably a version one of the model. Kind of cool though. The turret looks like a shrunk down Huge MC.

Also track/plate wheels not rubber tread. Which I seem to remember someone mentioning recently ...

God yeah where was that? Do seem to remember plated / tracked SRV wheels being glimpsed since the Odyssey reveal. Can't remember if it was in a bit of background concept art or what though.

(This content drought has gone on too long 😄)

A certain Latvian youtuber talked recently about supposed leaks and an image from inside an srv which had odd wheel tracks

I was going to ask, is that an existing megaship design?
It looks like the Discovery or if large enough the Countdown, hard to tell without seeing the front, but the engines aren't right for them. IIRC there is a science vessel class that looks similar, Bowman class?

I can almost guarantee you that that's just a really old design that was scrapped or evolved into the current scarab that we have now, and that those tires you see there are just what the srv tires looked like back before FD scrapped them for a more realistic and/or modern design. /tinfoil

I would like to emphasize that anything "new" that pops up in a leak might not be as new as you think, i.e. those ye-old thargoid models.
