Well, someone's got to make the forecast. Might as well be me:
The blight state HGEs will, sometime around December, begin producing a new G5 mat (something like "Bejangled Flux Capacitor Crystals" (aka BFCC's)). They will be required to make your fleet carrier jump.
Here's the forecast I'm trying NOT to make:
FDev: "Fleet carriers will jump using the new G5 material, 'BFCCs'. You'll find them in blight system HGEs."
Player community: "How many will it take to jump my carrier?"
FDev: "Probably something like 1 per 50 light years that you want to jump; we're still fine-tuning the mechanic, but we'll start there."
Player community: "But that won't even let us move our carriers to Colonia, let alone elsewhere in the galaxy!"
FDev: <blink> <blink> (that's game designer sign language for, "Oh, I didn't think of that.")
Player community: "...and if we DO take them outside the bubble, they'll be stranded until we fly back to get some more?!"
FDev: <blink> <blink>
Player community: "And what happens when you let someone who doesn't understand the HGE generation code change things
-- like they apparently just did in this last update -- so that HGEs are borked again? Or not appearing when or
in the numbers they should be?"
FDev: <blink> <blink>
Player Community: "Or what happens when the blight is eradicated, as it certainly, eventually, must be?!"
Player Community: "Or when someone unfamiliar with it changes BGS and blight systems become like famine systems?"
FDev: <blink>..."Oh, wait, we got this! You can use the material traders!"
Player Community: <salty groaning>
FDev (belatedly): "Actually, oh yeah! We DID think of that! We're pretty sure that, in time, you'll be able to buy your carrier jump juice with arx... ...without having to visit a station. Right from the handy-dandy "Store" screen (when it works). That way you'll be able to jump all the way to Beagle Point if you want to..."
