New Version of Cmdr's Log Available!

Hey guys... This is kind of already been happening, but I'm gonna have to take a hiatus for awhile. Our second child is coming on MONDAY, so there's alot going on. Just wanted to you let you know I haven't disappeared; just super busy! :)

That galaxy will always be there for me!

congrats on the mini Cmdr o7

Wow congratulations mate! Good luck to you, your wife, and your new one. Take all the time you need and don't be in any hurry... we're all happy to wait. :)

Congratulations on your spawn.

Though bad for me, because - only recently started to use this tool - I have some ideas :). I'll dump them here and will maybe see some result, or not.

I use Cmdr's Log on my touchscreen 'laptop'. And mostly run trade missions (for the variety and reputation), added with normal trading. So I use the research need/have search a lot. Some remarks about that;

- The resource dropdown cannot be scrolled by dragging the list up/down. That does work with other lists can.
- With touch the entries in the dropdown list are a bit small to select. Because the list is pretty long. And also because of the above issue, I tried typing the resource name. But the program has a few hotkeys (d, t, and more) which focus/open other windows. Some autocomplete/search (lookup html/JS Select2 dropdown selects) would be nice.

- I think the resulting "Search Results" window could use a repeat of the search controls from the Trading window. In this window though, the "Need"/"Have" buttons could be used as toggles, so that changing resource in the dropdown automatically updates the results with the already selected "Need"/"Have" option.
Extra:
- I wouldn't mind the "Search Results" window to have a button to add an item to a sort of shopping list, by default ordered by time of entry. This would be accumulated in a separate window.
- I'd like to enter an amount and destination per entry, possibly even a deadline.
- The shopping list could show what station(s) best to pickup resources. A whole lot of optimisation in collecting items could be unleashed here of course.

Anyway, thank you for this program and good luck and health!

Thanks for a great tool and congratulatinos to you and your "copilot" ;)
You will have some of the most stressing and rewarding time ahead of you :D
All the best
Cheers Cmdr

Seriously I need some help here!!
I cant get the App to locate my location. I have tried to change the Verbose logging, no luck, and when it does not record where you are the app goes insane and changes previous entries so all become the same ( same system)
Anybody ?
Cheers cmdr's

Congratulations to you both - Very special day :)

Hey Arch.. when you get back to it (and seriously, NO RUSH mate :) ) quick bug report.. Since I've been using the OCR thing and doing actual price searches I've started noticing it occasionally giving me results with negative profit (ie: loss) amounts.

Seriously I need some help here!!

Uhh not quite following you... Cmdr's log doesn't find/use the location from ED's logs, it's only the EliteOCR app that does. Can you describe in detail what's actually happening?

Congrats to you and yours, Arch. I also congratulate you on your many sleepless nights to come! :D

As noted by others this tool doesn't auto track your location, verbose logging or not. The implementation works by hand; you create a system/station then select the arrive/depart buttons as needed.

I will try :)
Initially i just used version 1.1 . All ok. Then I saw the post about OCR , so I upgraded to 2.1. The app now DOES change and follow your station /system travelling , but occaisionally completely wrecks your database by suggesting that some of your saved systems suddenly should be in another system ..
It is difficult to explain this, when I make changes to current system, some of the stored ones will also change, but only system place.
I think I must try to make a VID , I cant explain it better as I have not got a clue to what happens ?

On another note, ArchV1 please give a clue when you have time : Boy or Girl, all ok ?

Cheers Cmdr's

Uhh no. As Thebadmf said it's.the EliteOCR app that tracks your location from the VerboseLogging setting in the config file. It sets the system and station name in the export file, and Cmdr's Log app picks it up from that file when you import the file from the OCR app.

Make sure you have the latest version of the OCR app, older versions had some issues with incorrect system names where it would pick up the new name but continue to use the old one. You also need to make sure that the spelling of the station has been picked up and spelled correctly by the OCR (you can edit this in the table.before you export the data) and that you press "clear table" every time after you export the data. You also have to spell the commodities in your list EXACTLY the same way as the game does (including capital letters), and if you are updating old station entries from Cmdr's Log 1.x you must also make sure these station and system names are spelled exactly the same or the Log will create new station entries instead of updating the old ones.

re: EliteOCR

(note : I am not sure I am using the last version, as it works wee enough for me)

There is an issue with the system name in EliteOCR where the name tracking is lost at midnight. the work around for me is to quit both applications and restart them and system tracking resumes at the next hyperspace jump.

When I cannot be bothered to restart I just enter the system name manually in EliteOCR (remember to do it for each page CopyNPaste is your friend)
When you forget to enter it manually, EliteOCR still allows you to edit the list before exporting, and once or twice I have resorted to editing the CSV file before import into Cmdr'sLog

So question, if I want to use this tool just to automatically keep track of the systems I visit while exploring, and to allow me to add any notes as I go, will it do that?

I assume it will log the date/time etc I visit the system(s)?

If you tick and untick depart arrive and depart, it will..
