New Version of Cmdr's Log Available!

I was so happy that I found tool to create my own data with notes where I want it... So upset right now, lots of work was gone...

Can you please tell me is there any alternative tools?

There isn't one that I know of that lets you collect your own data and not share it with everyone else.

Slopeys will let you collect your own data and not download the shared database. But your data is still sent out to be shared with everyone else. Otherwise it has much the same functionality and they started adding overlays.

Thruds is share only and web based and doesn't allow any logs or other custom data.

There's also a pretty cool web based one primarily used by the Mobius PvE group called INARA http://inara.cz/ No OCR and all data is shared again.

Thanks!
I am using 32bit version of Cmdr's Log right now. Looks like it works fine for now.

I used to use cmdrs log but I moved to TCE : https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=103401

It allows you to capture all your own data and doesn't share it. It has a few functions cmdrs log doesn't have but at the same time it lacks a few as well.

Caveats to TCE are :

- Requires microsoft office.
- Requires windowed borderless mode as it acts as an overlay.

I've nothing against cmdr's log but I switched because the author is on haitus. Once he's back in the game I'll definitely be giving it a try.

Thanks a lot for advise! Right now my goal is smuggling, so I need to collect specific info from black markets! Cmdr's Log working very well for that job for right now, but TCE looks very interesting too! I should try it in the future! Thanks once again, you change my mind about that tool!

Yokai made a set up guide for TCE and it's linked in the first post on the main trhead so that's your first place to start.

I still have cmdr's log as it has all my old trade routes I've not checked with tce in it.

I may be being a bit of a fool but I cannot see in the first post where it says what destination it should be downloaded to or how it is used.Sorry for beong a pain.

It's a ZIP archive file, download it wherever you want, unpack and move it wherever you want, run the exe. That's it.

Bug report, hoping Arch still reads us :p

Since my monitor upgrade, from 1080p to 1440p, I can't open any longer the trading window. The main program too sometimes it's like bugged, it launches but doesn't show the station, then if I exit and relaunch it works, still no trading though.

Will give palladium for fix :D

I love Cmdr Log but one thing I am not seeing on the Trading page is the distance to the recommended system. When I use BPC or Thrudd I always check the distance. It is not worth listing suggestions in order of profit when the first one is 200Ly away and the second has almost as much profit and is only 20Ly. Yes you can go into Galaxy Map and look but that could be a pain if there are 10 suggestions and there is a really good route that is nearby but 7 suggestions down. Am I missing something?

Yep, that this tool has never been intended as a route planner. You can use the "hide feature" to exclude certain stations from the main view and the trading tool too but you must know where this stations or systems are in the first place. Otherwise you can add a "region" field if you want to and then se "Search Station Data". Same thing with notes and search notes.

Guys seriously, am I the only one being unable to use the trading tool at 1440p? I don't know if it's cause of the multimonitor or the weird resolution, or both the two things combined :(

I will be trying this out tonight! Thank you for the development, it sounds great!

Oh, I would like to point out that Norton Security auto-removes the main .exe file based on a 'low repution' which basically means that so few people used that file that it must me malicious.
Naturally I restored the file and told Norton to , but its probably something that is good to know ;).

If you're still having problems, you might be able to isolate the issue by setting your new monitor to 1080p resolution. If the resolution is the issue then it should be fixed, if the issue persists then atleast you know it's not the resolution that is causing it.

Yep the problem was the resolution in fact. I fixed it using a secondary monitor and sending the trading window to it.

Unfortunately it looks like Arch isn't playing Elite any longer. I still use this tool and will probably as long as I play Elite. Let's hope that the rumors around Powerplay will reach him :)

Despite the nerve of the author to care more for his newborn child than us space nerds, this app has served me very well for a long while now. I like the ease of customization for data input and the trade tool; I've got a large amount of data available on a station with my setup. The custom snippet feature is good too, for adding repeatedly-typed entries into your Notes sections. I have one saying "Full CRRROS" for stations with a full complement of (legal) services, a full ship listing for paring down per station list, Only Station, that kind of thing. It's a solid app.
