New worshipper of Docking Computer

Tried the ADC (first time ever using a DC in Elite Dangerous) and.. well, mixed feelings.

It did dock me, more or less safely. The flying style is rather gung-ho though, which didn't really let me relax and enjoy the faint strains of the Blue Danube. It doesn't adhere to speed limits either.

IMHO the docking computer should fly a lot more conservatively. Firstly for safety, but secondly I think it's too fast. It's on the level of a reasonably competent pilot. This reduces the incentive for pilots to learn to manually dock.

But it's way too polite...it...waits...in line...with other ships. That's where it becomes slow slow slow compared to doing it yourself. I'm all well and fine with letting players in front of me go first, but NPC's, heck no....

Ah, good point, I meant to comment on this. At least on the launch bit, haven't had it wait in line for docking yet.

When launching and there's a queue, it -should- wait on the pad until it has docking clearance. There's no point all these ships milling about in the middle of the station waiting to leave. Worse, my ship kept thrusting sideways into the wall of the station and bouncing off it while it was waiting - presumably to try to make room for other ships. Very immersion breaking and silly AI flying there.

Yep, it is indeed a lot less frequent docking to have a "line" but it does happen at busy stations. Never actually see that there's multiple ships wanting in, like a visible line of ships, but the docking computer will just decide to let approaching ships x, y and z go first.

I hate waiting in line. I just do all the piloting myself until inside the station, then throttle to 0 to let it finish up. I'm lazy and hate looking for the right pad number (and unlike some people, don't have the kind of memory required to just know where they are)

It wont put u on the waiting line to exit if u are allied to the faction that controls the station, in that case u leave 1st, u are given priority both in the departing and the landing.
So if u dont want to be in queue, just be allied to the station faction. :)

Just completed a trip to Colonia (432 jumps) using the new supercruise assist, and I can confirm it saved me a rebuy screen this morning. As I've mentioned before I play way too late sometimes, and last night I again fell asleep between jumps. When I woke up I was nearly out of fuel just from idling and mere 17 jumps from my destination. It would have been a shame to lose that progress, and my own fault for not logging out when I got drowsy. The automatic dethrottle kept me from melting my Clipper in my sleep. To top it off the assist dropped me out at Jaques Station perfectly and the auto-docking went smoothly as well. (y)

Jaques Station is Queue City, and I'm allied with them.

Yep, same is true for me in various stations that I work out of.

My primary activities always involve picking a "home" base and then working missions out of it. Different stations have been that base over the course of the last few weeks, but I always get to "allied" as quickly as possible...for better mission payouts. And I have yet to to not still end up queued on station exit if I use auto-launch and there is a lot of other ships waiting to get out.

Well, busy stations i tend to be queued all the time, but doesnt take long to exit even on those, but in those cases its understandable.
My experience has been always good and without big queues, but to be fair i havent been normally to the big centers.
