Just make sure you don't trust it too much; be present at the PC when it is doing its thing or you may regret it.
I'm a fan myself on ships where I can spare the module slot but earlier today it got my Cutter stuck in the mail slot during the auto launch. It was so stuck that I couldn't get unstuck when I took manual control and had to quickly exit to menu before I got shot at by station defenses. O.O That's the only time (so far) that the undock has failed me though.
Docking on the other hand has yet to cause me more than one (minor) issue....I sometimes get up to use the bathroom while autodock does it's thing, but never in my "big" ships like the Cutter, Beluga and T9. Better safe than sorry.
The new modules are fine, although they shouldn't take up any module slots and be standard kit for all chassis.
Because, Book 2 says so.Why can't they just be built into the ships? Same with scanners. Should be a software update.
For real?? I guess we learn something new every day!You can disable that function in your right panel under ship controls if you don't want to throttle down.
I like it the way it is now. It gives you some tough choices when outfitting your ships. The new modules are fine, although they shouldn't take up any module slots and be standard kit for all chassis.
I like that idea but I think it's probably too late. Imagine the complaints if FD took away the extra slots again; or the other complaints if they left them available! Why can't they just be built into the ships? Same with scanners. Should be a software update.
It's when you notice that the staircase going up into your ship has been replaced with a lift...The new Docker and the SuperCruise Assist are invaluable additions to anyone's arsenal beyond the age of 27. As in cars. And they get more valuable the older one gets. Just like reading glasses. Did you imagine you'd possibly ever need these when you were 35?

I think some of mine have recycled escalators from abandoned shopping malls...It's when you notice that the staircase going up into your ship has been replaced with a lift...
Like others, in the original Elite the first thing i bought when the funds were there? A DC![]()
I think most of enjoy landing out ships, taking off even... but being given the choice is the main factor, sometimes automation can be usefulI'm just one of those weird people where one of my favorite things about ED is landing! I'll be taking the free slots on most ships.
This. I'm not likely to get one myself, because I don't fly big ships (the only place I'd probably consider it) and I like blasting out of Mos Eisley. But for rookies who don't yet get dock/undock, vets who got it years ago, and those who like futurey spaceship stuff, it's a piece of win. Win for the rest of us too because free slot.I think most of enjoy landing out ships, taking off even... but being given the choice is the main factor, sometimes automation can be useful![]()
Supercruise Assist is not so good for explorers as it forces you to throttle down at every jump, this slows you down immeasurably. It's useful in system once at the destination, so I normally switch it off until I need it.
