Newb question: Type 7 or python?

Exactly and ulocking the FDS is a walk in the park. This ship can do everything besides exploring, but with Guardian boosters everything is possible. FDS is very tough, tanky and very stable if you're into fixed weaponry such as railguns. FDS is quite drifty and heavy, but not as much as the the Cutter, nevertheless drift can be used as an advantage during sharp turns - just turn off the flight assist and decisively turn the stick towards desired direction and then you can turn the fa on. FDS is a very medium miner. Can haul 128 tonnes of cargo if you're into bgs or trading. Persoanlly I'm using FDS with great success in bgs. If you want a combat version - just slap engineered hrp's all over and strap 5 multicannons and you're to kill with 5000 points of hull and quickly recharging shield. Hardpouint placemnt is next to excellet, 4 mediums and one large and that is pretty close to fdl. Heck, I'm also using FDS to kill Thragoid interceptors in Pleiades. In my career I totally omitted Asp Explorer and... from... Keelback I went to FDS. It showed me a different, unbeaten, non meta path. DBS, Keelback, FDS, Crusader - yeah I'm that kind of commander who pilots ships regarded as least popular.
I have a FDS rigged for rescuing escape pods from megaships also carries AX for smacking Thargoid Scouts. (y)

Dropdhip fan here!!!!

On my most recent account, working his way to credit heaven, just sold the T-7 for a Python. I see the T-7 as a stepping stone. In the end a friend got some really good pirate winged missions, so the Vulture actually made the money for the Python.

The T7 is quite agile for its size and role, I think its yaw is pretty good, or its ptich is bad, never quite worked out which. I f you take paper rather than real shields (it can protect against those hard landings). There are some trade routes around where you can make 7MCR each leg - 2/3 jumps. Makes you about 2-3 hours from the Python in a T-7. They do not last long!

So, I’m a fairly new player and have been enjoying just doing trade missions and some light exploring. I’m sitting on some cash right now but am trying to decide which to buy. I kno the 7 is probably a bloated pig to fly but it can haul so much stuff!!! I like that. I don’t have enough cash for a 9 or anything like that. Thoughts?
We've decided you're getting a Dropship! :ROFLMAO:

This was one of the major selling points for me. Its got really good firepower...

The Dropship can make for a fun missile boat. 1 large beam and four seekers can make a real mess of enemy ships that try and interdict you while moving cargo or passengers. Its jump range is rarely an issue if you’re just running missions from a home system.

It also sounds amazing, all creaky and drifty. Its got far more character than a lot of other ships...

I’ll have to try it again soon, not been in one for years.

I kept my Python, the Type-7 I eventually replaced with a Type-9 which I exchanged with two imperial Cutters, which all can do the same thing as the previous plus more and more efficiently. I miss the cockpit of the Type-9 though.

I’ve flown everything but the Beluga (because ha ha up yours Rick) and I’ve given up on both the T7 and the Python.

The T7 is gone because it offers a very specific style of gameplay: the itinerant cat-and-mouse trader. There’s fun in that, no lie, but it’s not my style.

The Python went away after a long long love affair because, honestly, the thing is too useful. It does everything reasonably well. If you want a ship that will give you a shot with every type of gameplay, go python. I don’t, not anymore. Specialized tools are more fun than jackknifes.

And the Krait’s ugly. Neener neener.
