News about new ships?

Engineers + ship kits = revenue.

So no. No new ships sadly.
Expect lots of ship kits though

They'd be insane to try. I don't know a single person who has one let alone the comedyfest which is the anaconda bumper kit. A whole slew of new ships instead of this garbage in a paid expansion would get more of my money though. But that's just my opinion. I don't expect FD to want more money or anything crazy like that.

The Hunter looks a bit like the attempt to make an imperial Heavy fighter supposed to be a threat to the Vulture... But seriously... Why so short, bubbled up and why putting those lateral engines so far out??... that looks... meh...

My biggest issue with ships in this game is the design aesthetic.

2000 damned years in the future and we're still using hard angle lines on 75% of the available ships? I realize it's space and there's no atmosphere for drag but c'mon.. Gutemaya can't be the only ship manufacturer to have gotten over the 1980s design aesthetic.

Just look at the Concept art for the Python (or most other ships, to be honest) and then look at what we have. HOW DID WE GO FROM SEXY TO BRICK?!

Personally I don't like the Gutamaya designs... looks too smooth, too gentle and too "luxury-show-off"... The more brutal and rugged shapes from Core Dynamics are by far more appealing to me :D

Hopefully "The Hunter" will fill that role if/when it makes it, as judging from the concept art clearly it is of Imperial design, looks about medium sized and built for combat. FD I guess will probably call it the "Imperial Hunter" so name fits with rest of the Imp fleet.

Looks alliance to me.

New ships don't have to fill a niche or a gap in the current catalogue. I'd like to have more ships to have more choice. It can be as simple as they way they look. People say there are loads of ships already but really at each stage in your cash flow through the game there is normally a choice of a only a couple of ships depending on your play style. So many of the ship catalogue are just variants on existing models (FAS/Dropship/Gunship, DBS/DBX etc) More ships please, less generic designs and lots more variety.

This. Rep from me.

For real though, 3.0 should be a big alliance fleet introduction.

Have 2.4 be aliens attacking, feds and imps getting their butts kicked, then 3.0 patch, boom! Alliance fleet which was secretly under construction all along shows up, and the combined might of all 3 major factions is finally enough to hold back the aliens.

It would be the perfect opportunity too, a new deadly enemy to test out the new alliance ships against to their full potential!

there was 0 material on the Dolphin when it started appearing in the game trailers... it's just a mater of time....

Fast ship, crappy hardpoint position. That's the Imperial way...

The HP placement on the iCourier is neigh perfect. Dreadful on the Clipper and fine on the Cutter.
For an Imp ship, 4 medium and two large would be fine (as long as the two large weren't placed in similar fashion to the Clipper). Fighter bay. Good shields. 5 module slots. Not so great hull. Internals: 6x2 5x2 4x1 3x1 1x1.
Military slots size 4x2. 16t fuel tank.
Combat fit 25lyr range (ish). More expensive than a Python.
The Feds get one small ship to compensate as the Feds already have 3 medium and a huge.
Imps only have 2 small, 1 large and one huge. With nothing SLF capable until the Cutter. Oh yeah and two seats for Multicrew.
(This is off the top of my head thinking here may need a bit of balancing)

That looks amazing! I'd never fly anything else (hyperbole) if I owned that beauty! Depending on the specs and performance obviously...

I'd definitely like to see more ships in the newer style, like the DBS and the Vulture. Triangular ships are good when it's one of the original '84 ships, but the more complex shapes are much better looking.

Still waiting for anything in the Python class. She is superior in 90% of all the tasks you can do.
You search for a ship for the... (insert ANY task)....? Surprise, It's the Python!

So we need a ship on the same level to get something to choose from :)

I would like to see an Imperial SLF carrier, and a Federation Anti Fighter ship.

Alliance... I have no idea what their preferred doctrine in space battles are, so no clue.

The Alliance Diplomacy Craft. No weapons just loud hailers and unblockable comms broadcasting equipment.

News about anything would be welcome at the moment, but don't hold your breath.

It's either going to be:

1) So awesome it needs a full prime spot announcement by the CEO at a coming gaming show.
2) There is no news.

I'll opt for option 2, less chance of disappointment.

Ships? be nice to see the Krait added.
