Nick gives reason for no sleeping dinos (Personally I like it)

Sure, we players are too dumb to know whether an animal is asleep or sick. The fact that there is a big red icon over them if they're sick doesn't help either. Better cancel sleeping so the players won't get confused and throw their console/computer out of the window.
Sorry for polemic, but how in the world can you accept such an answer?

I think you need to keep in mind that a lot of people aren't very smart. Also the other big reason is that this games main audience will be kids. Not all kids are that smart. Many learn as they grow. Some are just naturally smart and quick to pick up on things.

IMO this is a legitimate answer considering what I said above.

I think it's a decent argument. It doesn't really bother me anyway. If they sleep that's great. If not? I don't really mind that much. Seeing Dinosaurs sleep is boring IMO.

Maybe a little off topic here but I want to say – this is exactly why I’m interested in this game – to have the Dino feels real and organic.

For those that say this isn’t a Dino simulator, it breaks my heart. To me, Dino realism is the key selling point of the entire Jurassic franchise.

So, back to the topic, I still do not understand clearly why they made such a design choice but I do respect their decision. Again, I guess I have to play and feel it myself to make a conclusion.

The Dinosaurs will look good. But expecting every single little detail and behavior is unrealistic. They are correct when they say this isn't a Dinosaur simulator. It's a park management game.

personally I'm not really fussed either way. I believe eventually it should be in the game (and I'd like to think I'm right in saying it'll be there eventually) but if it's missing I can survive

The only thing that might concern me about dinosaurs sleeping in the game is:

Guest Thoughts:

Guest 15664: "Why are all the dinosaurs asleep?"
Guest 16631: "Why are all the dinosaurs asleep?"
Guest 17154: "Why are all the dinosaurs asleep?"
Guest 13264: "Why are all the dinosaurs asleep?"
Guest 19112: "Why are all the dinosaurs asleep?"
Guest 10213: "Why are all the dinosaurs asleep?"
Guest 15473: "Why are all the dinosaurs asleep?"

Park rating has decreased by 0.5 stars. Guests are angry and want refunds on their viewing gallery/tower entry fee as everything was asleep.

"See the tyrannosaur doesn't obey set patterns, or park schedules... the essence of chaos... *drums hands on knees*"

All I can think of is RCT3 where they say the same thing about every ride not being thrilling enough.

Dinosaurs will probably start to sleep and wake up at different times so that there is variation. Since animals and
people have different preferences of when to sleep and stay awake. Also, kids that are old enough to play this game
should know that animals and humans have to sleep.

This is what I said in another thread. Seeing all the animals sleeping in a zoo is boring. People want to see them awake doing animal stuff. It's the same with Dinosaurs. Of course living things sleep. This is a video game, the Dinosaurs are not alive. So other than making some people happy there isn't a real need for them to sleep.

But wouldn't most of the guest be sleeping as well when the some of the dinosaurs are sleeping in night time if they add a day/night cycle?
(I think they would add a day-night cycle if they had a sleeping mechanic) Or maybe frontier will just add short naps that won't bother the guest.

I like the idea of them having naps, but to me it not a make or break at all, we are going to be so busy with everything I bet most of us won't even notice.

Yeah, you probably are correct. We probably won't notice dinosaurs taking short naps of one to five minutes (My guess on a dinosaur nap for JWE)
since there will be other dinosaurs awake, guest to please and improvements to the park to be made.

well you'd think this would be the case. But then, look at planet coaster (among other tycoon games with day/night cycles) - guests can sometimes spend close to an in game month in the park, going through countless day/night cycles, and never get bored or tired

So yeah, about that "immersion" everyone's going on about...

5 minutes would be way to long. 1 minutes maybe a minute and 30, maybe 2 at the most.

I don't think five minutes would be too long since there are other dinosaurs still awake and it's shorter than a real life nap
but that's my opinion on the subject of naps for JWE.

It's about the players immersion. As players we will obviously be a lot more focused on the dinosaurs than on individual park guests. If you want realistic dinosaur behaviours, sleeping is a fairly basic way to achieve that. I don't understand how thats hard to wrap your head around.

Also, if I was a guest, my thought process would be; 'Why has ingen bred these dinosaurs that never go to sleep? I want to see real animals not artifical freaks of nature'

Also, I hate to say it, but the people who are complaining about seeing sleeping animals in zoos... what is wrong with you?

God forbid these animals rest and aren't entertaining people 24/7. They are alive, they are living their lives and they are not there soley for your entertainment. This kind of thinking is why there is so much wrong with the world.

Oh please, don't try and use some moral stance. We are aware that they are living animals and need sleep. But this is a game so there is no real need for it. It's cosmetic as far as I am concerned.

I don't buy the immersion bit. Planet Coaster the parks don't empty at night. People don't leave.

It's a basic behvioural need. Would the animals not eating be cosmetic as well? The argument against not having sleep is so weak, your attempts at a justification for this are based around the fact that it's not a gamebreaking thing to omit. I agree, but thats not a valid argument for not having it when it is SO obviously implementable.

It's such an easy way of helping to create immersion and to make these animals feel alive.

What happens in planet coaster is irrelevant. It's a virtual, fiction roller coaster park that may as well be set in an alternate universe.

Jurassic World is set in the real world with real people. That's part of the intrigue. Thats why the guests look like real people and not cartoons like in PC. To compare these two games is a waste of time.

Of course its immersive to watch dinosaurs sleep. I honestly don't understand anyone could disagree with that. It's literally the same as saying that the dinosaurs not needing to eat isn't un-immersive

JWE is also set in a virtual world if you haven't noticed. I figured I would point that out. They are both management games. One isn't more realistic than the other. These are games after all.

Watching them eat is fun. Sleeping not so much.

I agree, I would like Jurassic World Evolution to be much as a Dinosaur simulator in behavior at least as much as a Theme park management game.
Sleeping gives more immersion and it's possibly cute seeing dinosaurs sleeping.
