i think it looks rather nice. I still prefer elite tho.
Yeah it has it's moments

If anyone followed any of the pre-release stuff for NMS this was front and centre. Which was my reply to werewof13. It's the reason NMS looks like it does and not like ED, those 60's and 70's sci-fi book covers (huge moons, impossibly big on the horizon etc) were actually the driving reason behind WHY NMS exists in the first place. Chris Foss is just one (most excellent) example of the art style they were being influenced by in creating the art for NMS.
EagleBoy thinks that 100 devs are the same as 10 devs and that 10 devs putting out more is actually less than 100 devs giving us Thargoids but can't actually provide even half an argument to back that up.
Currently enjoying No Mans Sky after its big updates.
Played upon release but it’s a completely different game now.
It’s not a space sim like Elite though. It’s flight model is almost non-existent. Truly awful.
But it’s exploration and cartoony universe is great fun.
Except they haven't produced more. What they have produced is very different and you have no knowledge of how easy it is for NMS, which is a very basic game compared to ED which has far more complexities.
NMS is a survival sandbox set in space. Elite is a spaceflight simulator. They're completely different and overlap only in setting.
I see no reason not to play and enjoy both, but direct comparison is foolhardy outside of superficial elements or preference.
.... vastly superior AI
What I am saying is that adding more features into a complex system is not that easy.Considering the flight model and the Stellar Forge were there at launch.. What, exactly, have they produced that was so complex, that it required 100 odd developrs and 4 years?
Another developer I see. As to a bug fest, I find that difficult to believe. I haven't come accross one yet since 3.1 was launched. So how it's a bug fest I really do not know (i'm sure there are bugs though). As to how complex some of that is you would need to work there. I very much doubt the new trade tools were easy to do, which ties into the BGS and the Commodities markets. Some missions are also far more complex as they too tie into the BGS, the commodities markets and the steller forge.I'm a developer for near on 40 yrs. I cannot see anything they have produced as being 'complex'. In fact, i'd relegate most of it to menus and lists. And lets also add, that anything they do produce is a bug fest.
You're saying what they developed in 4 years can be relegated to menus and lists?Considering the flight model and the Stellar Forge were there at launch.. What, exactly, have they produced that was so complex, that it required 100 odd developrs and 4 years?

You're joking right?

Refueling in E|D is instantaneous. What has that got to do with Bartizan's point?
Welp, I finally bit the bullet and tried NMS. After 15 minutes, I’ve concluded that it’s awful. The flight model is awful, the lack of VR and HOTAS support is awful, the travel mechanic is awful, the ship cockpits are awful, I could go on.
In all my years of gaming, NMS is the first game I’ve ever considered asking for a refund for. Definitely not worth $60.
It takes a lot less than 10 seconds to make fuel in NMS, so long as you have the materials. Harvesting the different materials for each type of fuel takes more than 10 seconds and can depend on the availability based on RNG. Plus you need to have available crafting slots and usually a portable refiner for most of them or their components.
There's launch thruster fuel that uses up 1 unit each time you take off, even if you never get to space and just want to quickly move from POI to POI on a planet.
There's pulse engine fuel required to travel fast through a system, a must if you don't want to take forever to reach some stations or other planets.
Then there's antimatter and the containment device for the warp cell, both get used up when jumping from system to system.
Wait one, are you saying the NMS has [shudder] RND? But it has been widely recognised that RND is the biggest evil in ED, the RND Gods have ruined the game for so many players. In fact there is a very strong chance that if you read any thread, someone will bring up the insane, unfair, moronic, indefensible RND in ED as the reason the world is going to end.
Sheesh, RND in NMS, it is doomed I tell ya, DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMED
You've obviously never heard one of the oldest proverbs in software development...
"When your project is delayed you can always double the number of programmers.. and double the delay!"
