No motivation to go on.

guys this has nothing to do with PVP in a direct sense its to do with AI and NPC but the two are linked because i would wager if you good against human you will be good against NPC and dare i say it the easy swapping of modes over fear of losing your ship and credits has played a massive part in this response over a good challenge AI

Haz res were added for content for players in wings and very high end players. The fact people could farm it on their own in a half specced ship was the issue.

If you have no backup stick with low intensity whilst you find your feet and edge up as you gain confidence and find a level you are happy with

This update has provided one of, if not THE, best opportunity for updating my Ignore list ever!

Forum flak = opportunity.

indeed it is a problem but so many players have took the easy routes that they have got so used to that route when asked to change they are incapble of doing so some of us predicted this response long before the AI was improved i spent 5 hours today in HAZ RES with no problems but then i took open play and combat seriously from the start

That's cool to hear. No I'm not being sarcastic. I'm in a slightly different boat, in that I'll take it seriously as well, but it's still a game and meant to be entertaining. The moment it turns into an exercise in frustration is when I'll put it down and go do something else that isn't frustrating.

Which is currently difficult, because I've got a lot of time invested into ED and I'm suddenly facing a wall of frustration all because I'm in an Asp that isn't fitted for combat. And getting it fitted for combat involves flying around various stations getting modules exchanged whilst being interdicted by NPCs that are causing said frustration and resulting in an exploration Asp having a jump range of 25ly. Yay.

I must admit, I started this game in beta with the intention of PvPing, spent a lot of time just trying to get credits when credits were impossible to get, decided to spend most of my time in solo to get some credits and place some ships around galaxy, I played very infrequently until earlier this year, then I discovered Robigo, I now have what I want.

Trouble is, the game is pretty boring and expensive, I'm not good enough to carry my PvP solo, nowhere near and the people I used to play with, sacked this off a long time ago.

This new patch introduces power creep, not a problem for the PvEers but it is for PvP and we have 8 more years to go, I will probably go back to solo or group because of the frustration I have encountered in open with my pathetic attempts of piracy in my DBS, combat logging abounds.

I will not for one, pay for any expansions, anymore, I'll still play but until FD get their head out of their a*se, I will stay at this expansion and wait for them to actually include some gameplay.

Space engine does planets and everything else better, it's free and it is one bloke doing it.

Why don't you hardcore players simply form a group where you thrash each other in space?

All rather insulting. Sorry to say this, and no offense meant, but the problem here appears to be you. It could well take me months to outfit all my ships and I'm no hardcorer either. Instead of moaning and seeking for the game to be made easier how about you apply yourself and raise your own personal bar? I'd have expected someone in the military to have a more robust attitude.

But whatever..

Easy.....'cause they don't want a real fight. Ironic how if someone says anything close to "the new AI is too difficult," the above referenced type players jump all over them, but they don't want to fight each other..........it's too hard. They want to beat up on players that aren't interested in/prepared/equiped for combat.

I am a player not interested in PvP, never ganked any other player and the only Cmdr`s I killed were the ones that tried to pirate me. Sometimes I won others I lost. I play in all modes when it suits so PvP has got SFA to do with this combat AI issue. I like that the AI is better instead of spinning on the spot, the challenge is good. You cant fly around the place with little to no risk, the game is worthless then. You have high security and low security systems and in them you take you chances as it should be. You have new and improved security response to help pilots in trouble and you can always high wake. Complaining of combat in res sites being too hard is a joke as you are going in for combat and not a picnic.

It depends on what you interpretation of entertaining is its subjective i find challenging games fun not games that let me win so easily it becomes a joke unfortunatley the modern gamer has been spoilt with games that frankly challenge nothing and this is the result IMHO

May i ask what is causing your frustration? i am really interested, because i am mostly also flying my asp with explorer fitting and never had any problems (of course you can't do any combat related stuff with it).
If it is just the continous interdiction from some npcs that happens from time to time, all you have to do is jump to another system and shake him off, problem solved.

Battle of Jutland:

28 RN Battleships, 16 German Navy battleships (full battleships.) Loads of heavy cruisers, light cruisers, armoured cruisers, destroyers (British only), torpedo boats (German navy only.)

From memory, maybe 150 ships total. Ships lost, 10 or 20. Sailor's lives lost, sadly 6-7% of around 100,000.

How many full battleships lost in this principal naval battle of WW1? - none at all. Zero. NONE.

Realistic for major vessels to have a big advantage? - definitely.

Realistic for powerful vessels to suffer high loss rates, or be threatened by harrying of minor vessels? - no. Highly unrealistic.

(Understood that its an old, and maybe out of date naval analogue - but there is no guerilla warfare in space you know - asymmetric forces etc. There are no trees to hide behind in space etc. )

Yeah, I was trying to avoid high waking unless I had no other option, and performing evasive action in supercruise to stop the interdiction even starting. I got docked after restarting the attempt twice due to high wakes. I wasn't running a mission, or cargo, or smuggling, or trying to hand in bounty vouchers. I was trying to dock so I could fit a bloody point defence module. And the station I reached didn't then have upgraded thrusters or shields, at which point my desire to continue playing had evaporated.

Are you able to use founders world? If not if you ask on the forums you can get some good guidance on places to upgrade. Most forum members are really helpful, when they're not being all gung-ho about secretly wanting to shoot newbies (and snowflakes like me.)

No. I'm more than capable of using eddb.io to find places to upgrade. Guess what, that's what I had done. I was flying to a station to upgrade.

Well I have also just been interdicted by an NPC Anaconda, me in a DBS, whilst in SC I got the usual garbage from the pirate on comms, watched him on radar, outmanouvered him (should be a trip in the park in a DBS), meandered towards my destination using the DBS manouverability in SC, whamoh, got interdicted, it was like he dissapeared from radar and appeared behind me on radar.

Still got away though.

Its a real shame but I feel the same way.
Being a kickstarter backer, I really don't like the way this game has turned out.
I don't know if its me getting old and not liking change, or its just been made for a very young generation.

Fly safe Cmdr's

what has become apparent is a awful lot of players have been taking it easy either trading or combat in solo for the last year and a half and now they are being asked to use their brains in combat NPC and they are clearly incapable of doing so you reap the rewards of playing so safe that you learned nothing about combat and when or where to engage in it absolutley NO SYMPATHY

Zigackly, ferpectly said! Have some rep Sir!

Travelled 43 jumps to an engineer.
Engineer wants soontill relics.
Spent half an hour browsing the forums on where to find them.
Learned that I need to travel 73 jumps to some system that sells them as rare trade goods.
Oh and 73 jumps back again.

Logged out.

For the 11 Billionth time, "Dangerous" in the title refers to the Pilots Federation rank.

So you are saying that you bought ELITE ... DANGEROUS and thought: "hummmm...I bet that will be a really fun space trucking simulator". Come off it this is a game about space that is very similar to the Caribbean in the 17 th and 18 th century... the galaxy is a dangerous place that doesn't want and our need you to be the hero.
