"No plans to port Elite Dangerous to PS5"

"Get a PC and play at better quality" The thing is, PC is a variable architecture. The lowest common is way lower than the 2020 consoles, it would be great if we could remove that hinderance, but we can't. There's a video I've been sharing amongst friends for a while.
Don't get me wrong, PC is MR, but when developed on specifically that little console box (ish!) is going a long way for the price.

Some of us would like a little more information ahead of console launch in order to better inform our purchasing options (the point of this thread).

Given that pre-orders for both next-gen consoles are exhausted now and launch is a mere 3 weeks away, that's a paper-thin argument.

Your best source of information for the questions you seek is fans posting youtube videos of Elite running on the new consoles. Which you'll get in a little over 3 weeks time.

The thread was started in the middle of August.
And as I said all along, you'll be able to play, day 1 on the new consoles. You'd have been better off directing your efforts away from complaining on the forums about imaginary problems and towards enjoying the game you are clearly so passionate about.

I'm not complaining, or arguing, or imagining problems that don't exist.

I do respect your right to have an opinion that differs from mine.

That you're happy with very little information about Elite on next gen consoles prior to release is absolutely valid.

This is probably not the bite you were looking for, sorry to disappoint 😉

Today, another developer publishes detailed information about both backwards compatibility, and a native PS5 version of thier game. Come on Frontier, were still waiting...

Perhaps there is no other information to share?

Does it run better in CZ or will it still be a slideshow at some points? They could share the framerate.
Frontier have already verbally confirmed that the game will run in backwards compatibility mode so they must know basic items like resolution and frame rate, that they could share?

That assumes a specific level of testing and analysis of the results. We can't confirm if that has taken place or, if it has, if Frontier have any interest in sharing it publicly.

Based on their complete radio silence, I don't think they see any of that as a priority, and I don't blame them. Its petty stuff in the grand scheme of things.

Running in compatibility mode equals the same resolution and framerate, isn't it?
For PS that would mean 1080p/60hz
Things are a bit better for XB since ED benefits from XB1X enhanced mode, that is 4k/60hz with quality and performance mode (currently the quality mode is bugged, so that leaves xboxers with only 4k performance mode).

So what i really expect is faster loading times due to SSD and more solid/stable performance within the resolutions supported by the PS4 / XB One versions.

NMS has released news because they do have to brag with native features for the new consoles.
Which FD said there will be no native support in ED for the nextgen consoles.
(but that might come with Odyssey - rather slim chances tho, since Odyssey will be a DLC for ED and not a standalone game, but who knows, we consolers can only hope)

Ultimately the impression I'm getting is a lack of commitment to the console player base.
