"No plans to port Elite Dangerous to PS5"

Check out Elite Dangerous on Xbox series X forum. They're saying 60 & 4k, smooth as butter. Couple saying they're having some jittery issues, but the majority are loving it.

So it works on PS5

I feel it loads far faster (menu to Open), jump transitions seem faster too (less time in tunnel). I did do a network test and the wifi chip seems better than PS4, i'm getting 199.5 Mbps download and almost 30 Mbps upload.

Graphics im less sure on, it seems more vibrant(?), but might be PS5<->TV settings rather than the game itself.
Is there some way to check video output in-game?

EDIT: video

I can confirm that Elite Dangerous DOES work on the PS5. I touch smoother as well. My setup is Elite is installed on a external SSD and I moved it to the PS5 loaded it and BOOM straight to killing Feds for the Holy Empire !!

Thanks for that vid. So probably best to put it into graphics setting and let the performance sort itself with the PS5.. hopefully it's open to run at variable frame rates on that setting and not locked to 30fps...

TV itself says as below:

How have you gotten access to a PS5 already ? Aren't you in the UK where it only gets released next week ?
Without wanting to dox myself, i'm not in the UK anymore.

Interesting... I wonder if the console or TV is upscaling.
Guess console. Otherwise the TV would show 1080p as an input signal.

Just wondering about the HDR. Eventually that's also a system level setting on the PS5, ED is not supporting HDR afaik.

Yeah you're right - PS4 Pro version is locked into 1080p, so it'll be a matter of putting a little dev time into including updated graphics settings. I imagine they won't do this until Odyssey is released, as there's no PS5 native version and they probably don't want to release an interim PlayStation version that only runs 4K on PS5 until then. Having said that... they could easily do so, i.e. Am I a PS5? Yes: Unlock user definable graphics settings, No Carry on.

It's quite disappointing but it's what I've been expecting for a while now.

I'd rather have known before I ordered my PS5 tbh, as there's no guarantee that it'll ever be fixed. It's the reason I created this thread - even though many came in and said "it'll work, what more do you need to know?". Well here's a prime example.

Now we just have to wait, and hope.
