Yes it was, but has gone away. It also says "DRM free" on my order NOW for the boxed copy. Something it will not be.

if you pop over to the net
put i elite dangerouse offline
you will get 100s of replys from different sourses even wikipidia
and the all point out the offline no internet option, some even tag to the press relesses/utube clips of DB saying its in there

go have a look then come back with rubbish about never prommised

If this is really canceled

it is. You can do a forum search for recent posts by Michael Brookes.

I can only assume you quoted the wrong post.

Which I think it justifiable, seeing as the KS-peeps can't get their money back too. I do think that Frontier advising to use the refund options over this is a bit assinine (unless they never read the terms and conditions of their own store, ofc.)

Oh KS peeps can get their money back! They clearly promised a different product. (a DRM free offline game) And while KS won't refund it, FD legally has to.

"Is a creator legally obligated to fulfill the promises of their project?

Yes. Kickstarter's Terms of Use require creators to fulfill all rewards of their project or refund any backer whose reward they do not or cannot fulfill. "

My reward of a Physical DRM-free collector's premium boxed edition of "Elite: Dangerous" can obviously not be fulfilled now.

I fail to see how solo online is not mode for you. Universe slowly changes? But so what? Do you really want it that static?

what part of

Have u paid for the beta? Are u playing at the moment? You don't have to play against other players you can go solo.

No I haven't played the game and now it looks like I never will. And yes I know you can play it solo while connected online but that doesn't help one bit to me. I do not rent games I own them. I'll decide when and where I want to play my games.
I find it very unprofessional of the developers to go back on their word like this.

I doubt it after all they are designing the game THEY want not the one those who backed it were led to believe they were getting

You know, I would put money on the fact that this decision is purely to prevent piracy. With massive storage being the norm these days, there is no way they couldn't whack out a single player offline game.

You don't own it even with a hard copy.

If this is a deal breaker goodbye, I hope you get refunded.

Offline solo mode was one of the reasons why I joined the beta. If this is really canceled I'll probably ask for a refund. When I buy something I want to make use of it when and where I want, without Internet connection problems, server issues, and I want to be sure that I can keep using it even if the software house decides to shut down everything.

You're right in saying that, but you agreed with the terms and conditions of the store as soon as you hit 'check out' there. As soon as you paid for your purchase, it was made available to you and from that point forward, you'll have to live with it.
There are outside means to get Frontier to refund you, but that varies from country to country and it will take a lot of pro-activity from your end and you have to ask yourself if you want to go through all that trouble. I fully understand if you do that for the principle of it, though.

I wish that Frontier had stated that Off-line was being looked at with a very slim chance of making into the final release; I would have waited for the finished product then. But yeah, I'm over it. I only regret that I won't get as much usability out of the game as I originally thought that I would. Right now I'm more worried over what else is getting dropped in return for five extra ships.

No it has been explained on the forum by the dev team why this is the case.

This thread is literally pointless.

why in the hell would you buy a game... KNOWING full well that there would be dynamic changes in the online mode, and settle for offline? 400BILLION BILLLLLLIIIIIOOOOOON systems... and you are crying about offline. Jump a couple systems and be a loner over there.

is it THAT hard?

You're not seeing the big picture. When FD close the servers in say 7 years, you lose your game.

I've been playing Frontier: Elite 2 for 25 years, and was planning to do the same with E: D. No can do, thank you very muck. And no, it's not a typo... :)

Pretty much, also hacks and cheats, if they give out the server they pretty much know within a week there will be hacked clients all over the place as the server is reverse engineered. I think they should release the server and encourage the mod community to start modding and injecting events into their own servers... and do with it what they will, imagine the ED mods people could make :) Fingers crossed for the future :)

I think that you have a different idea of what 'reward' means than most people.

He might not. As already stated, Frontier have said that on a case by case basis they are looking at refunds.
