No Single Player offline Mode then?

He doesn't. Offliners are very few comparing to 140k people we have now, it is just basic math. Just wiggling with numbers, trying to push FD to reconsider - it won't work.

Do provide a source to this statement. Where are you getting your numbers from? How many are "Offliners"? Without something to validate, this post is as worthless as any other you've made.

It's the 'from time to time' quote that catches my eye. Like you need to connect to update market data and synch with the universe that ALL players are playing in. But does that mean a constant internet connection ? It sounds more like you need to connect now and again, not a constant connection. I really don't know. It'll be interesting to find out.
Constant connection, for every state change and transaction needs server confirmation.

Really ... So a handful of people (and it is a handful) , out of what , tens of thousands of backers .. .Thats pretty much 1%

I dont see those same people complaining to Spotify or Steam or Netflix because they have a rubbish internet connection. In the end ED was always pitched as a game that was going to be online, if people didnt 'get that' then thats not FD's fault.

So what exactly have some of these being doing for the last 12 months during alpha and beta then? Twiddling their thumbs .. no .. They have been playing a game online (in some cases with difficulty).

If people genuinely bought the game for offline mode only then fine they deserve a refund (for the retail cost of the game), and that is a small percentage of people, I am sorry but it just is. The rest are just a part of the 'mob' culture who's only pleasure in life is to cause trouble. The game is perfectly playable in Solo mode in on a dodgy connection.

Its funny because all those on a dodgy connection seem to be posting here without any massive issues ...

1% out of 100,000 is still 1000. That's 1000 annoyed people. You get that amount complaining to OFCOM about a TV ad and the ad gets pulled.

In the case of a game, they'd be better off complaining to these people.

Well said.

I also have a good internet connection, but I wanted the offline mode to be able to pause the game whenever I have to in order to respond to family emergencies etc. I would also have liked the game to start up quickly instead of having to wait for minutes for it to connect to the online world.

Wanting offline for pausing... You know you can just drop out of SC and sit there nothing will happen. I have done that if I have to deal with one of my young children at night.

The game doesn't take that long for me to open. Try playing kerbal space program that game takes minutes to open and that is currently a single player.

Edit
Though if you are doing a mission you are stuffed... That maybe is annoying but not a show stopper.

Well, I have at least some numbers. You have nothing at this point.

And that doesn't even matter. It's done.

If the beta is anything to go by, "from time to time" equals every time you dock, trade, accept missions, what have you. It's a play on words, nothing more. Solo online is online.

Seriously, are you so thick that you believe that you need continuous internet to post online? seriously? I'm sorry guy, white knighting is one thing, reaching while white knighting must some kind of record.

Lol cant agree more.

Beside that

This will be relayed for sure and can have a major impact and i dont want it for Frontier.
There are allways solutions, like saying ok we cant for the moment but we are aware that in the future we will provide this mode.
Hope they will communicate tomorrow to quiet all of this.

You have no numbers, to be exact, and yet again you're falling through because you have zero basis for anything you say beyond wild speculation and fanboyism.

You're wrong about DRM, you're wrong about this, and everything else pretty much. You really are just a fanboy and will be ignored as such. Have fun with your cut content.

Yet this will no doubt keep going at least until the 22th. *sigh*

I am vwey disappointed at thisa annoucement, i bought the beta, with the understanding there will be an offline mode, it did not say anything about it being withdrawn, therefore is very any recourse to get a partial refund on this, as i think it could be misconstrued as bad advertising

You can request a refund through the store. Each request will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Seems to me Frontier are handling the situation as honestly and honorably as possible. Some people kickstarted it or bought into the various stages based on the implication that there would be a wholly offline mode eventually. It turned out Frontier couldn't quite pull that off, and so to people for whom that is a deal-breaker, they are offering refunds. Although in an ideal world they would have managed to develop an offline mode that met their standards, that turned out not to be the case.

I can't really see how this can be spun as nefarious or underhanded in any way. Disappointing, sure, but I feel in no way swindled. Most publishers would have ground this through the marketing department and spun it as though they were doing us a favor.

Nothing about how they are handling it is either honorable or honest. They in no way made it seem like there may not be a single player offline option. They didn't even mention a caveat of if possible, or it is intended but not completed, no all the language they used regarding offline made it seem as though it was baked in from the beginning. If they were honest, and. It digital snake oil salesmen, they they would have said we are trying for offline, we are working on including it, or its something we have no intention of including since the beginning. I opted to support ED over SC in march because offline didn't even seem questionable. They lead a lot of us on. Now they have lost our trust. I hope this thread can help them change their mind about their practices and treatment of who thought they were supporters but we're actually just suckers

Well to turn the argument around, have you actually tried playing the game in Solo mode for any length? Does it work? Im not defending anything other than common sense here because as per usual its completely gone out of the window.

you want a refund? Fine get on with it, leave the forums for the people that can play the game before you ruin it for the rest of us, and more than likely ruin FD as a company. There is a quite a lot at stake here, and people need to put it into a little more perspective than they currently are. Next there will be people organising some sort of rally to march on FD's offices ...

Its a video game , get some perspective in life ...

Which mainstream media? Only one link has been shared many pages ago, and that had only 3 FB likes. (probably from the reporter, his wife and the cat)

This is where we have to agree, nobody cares about this game ,it has a very small niche market,it's a MAJOR gamble for FD so I am pretty sure all decisions are not taken lightly ,if the offline mode had to go it had to go,there was/is no conspiracy here, give these guys a break.
