Oh please, I'm severely disabled and untreatably sick and even I didn't read that in that post. o.0
Sorry if I personally offended you maybe my English language skills are not still good enough to post proper snark but this whole thread is starting to get to me with responses from either sides.
I feel like we have been thrown to a pit and are trying to eat each other.

In fact, in my circle of friends, the first question about any new game is 'Does it have off-line?'. All my friends are people with families and have careers that keep them on the go. There's just little time for them to sit down and make sure that they too can have a slice of the pie amongst the onslaught of people who can invest many more hours than they can. The personal situation is limiting the choice. Gaming is a lifestyle, of that I'm convinced. But it shouldn't become the overriding factor of your day. Allways online games where the players dictate the landscape require a lot of time-investment many people just don't have anymore.
I can't recommend Elite to my friends anymore; it's always online.
Yup. Yup. Yup. Time is something that I wish I had more of when it comes to my passions or hobbies. Life is great. It would be even greater if it would be more understanding of my needs,,,,,,,,, ;)

But just for clarification I probably should have elaborated on my last line:
The next simple answer from me is: "How much time do you have?"
",,,,,to hear about my feelings on Frontier's "intended" plans?" ;)

The reality of the situation is that I'm going away for Christmas but can't play ED where I'm going because frontier. But thanks. Hey, you wanted a dose of reality, be careful what you wish for, right?

On a lighter note, the (tw-it) bit made me LOL, and your Blackadder picture's a nice touch, even if those of us who have played already and actually cared about offline kinda feel a little bit like we've had a pair of pencils stuffed up our noses right about now.

Sorry, I'm just getting a bit fed up with the melodrama. I did remove the post almost immediately. But thank's for taking it in the spirit it was meant.

Let's wait for the first posts of disgruntled people who are too late to get to the profitable tradinglanes because they have to sleep too, lol. Gamma will kick the stream of complainers off, believe you me. ^^

There are billions of systems to explore. How many explorers are there?

There are millions of profitable trade lanes (which are replenished over time). How many traders are there?

There is more than enough.

err, no you can't!
solo mode just means you don't meet other players in game, but you're game world is still directly affected by their actions in the dynamic galaxy!
please try to understand the essential difference between online solo and offline single player! maybe then you might just gain some real insight into, just one of the issues at hand, it's not about a game "feature" or playing mode, its about what TYPE of game/product is being offered.

David and FDev wanted a dynamic galaxy.... we don't even know that the offline model had random fluctuations built in to mimic the events we will see online. Claiming you don't want to play a simulation game because things in it change, is... well i dont know what it is... but it sounds really insipid.

More power to them for not sacrificing their vision with a flat static galaxy.

yes. that is what DRM free means.

Reading the pledge tier reward, it may be that the disc is the only thing that is DRM free and therefore the installation of the client is not restricted by DRM - playing the game could still require use of the online account code.

No, because that's referring to the online portion and not the offline mode, obviously.

Except the pledge tier was probably created before the 11th of December 2012 (when the offline mode was added to the FAQ) and did not refer to online / offline - just the game.

No I stricly forbid my Son to play it .... yes thats happen if you don´t trust a Company---

I understand. My second copy was intended for my daughter, btw, and she isn't happy about not playing either - but she completely understands & supports the reasons.

She's only 9, and she's more mature than some here to be honest.
