No Single Player offline Mode then?

I will admit that I played a little bit of online to see what it was like. It took about 3 sessions to realize online was DayZ in Space and not anything I wanted to have anything to do with. All I wanted was a 2014 version of the game I played when I was 12 which did not include a bunch of ats flying around with me.

So why don't you play in the solo mode? you won't see any other players.

Sorry, i'm not here.

Offline mode had very little to do with my the decision to fund the game (as do a lot of people) So Your argument about that's the WHOLE reason we're all here... fails. I don't care if they promised purple space monkeys. If there are no space monkeys, whoop dee doo. So your mad, great. We're not. Deal with it.

Your clearly just looking for a reason to be mad. I'm tired of this non sense. Enjoy your tantrum.

bye
Superficial.

The game WOULD NOT HAVE REACHED THE KICKSTART THRESHOLD WITHOUT THOSE BACKERS WHO WERE PROMISED OFFLINE FOR THEIR MONEY.

So YES you wouldn't be here, nor would the game.

And sadly, he's not alone. I'm in the same position. :(

Couldn't be bothered with the videos, or the pictures, really couldn't care less now about 3.9 or Gamma whereas 5 days ago I'd have been champing at the bit for every release saying "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" and wearing my F5 key out.

Ironically though, I look at it from a slightly different viewpoint. He is looking for the "kill the dragon, save the princess" kind of experience. I was looking forward instead to the fact that we are NOBODIES in this game. That the galaxy is huge, wondrous, and you are a tiny speck on a tiny speck, lost in that total perspective vortex.

The difference is I guess, for me the insignificance comes from being within your own galaxy... unaffected by other nobodies like yourself.

I feel the same way.
I was looking forward to offline and doing my own thing.
Now it will prob be speed hackers, greefers, disconnects, ppl with massive cargo ships sort of dominating the market.

So not to bothered about the 20th,22nd or the 16th.
My humbug xmas have come early so it seems.

You people fascinate me :)

Indeed... I feel that all that's left to do is find out why Pi didn't work to complete the circle.
On the other hand, I take the chance to enlighten some people about the difference between Solo and online, along with some enlightening beta backers who feel they should be compensated for the free stuff they get for completing the beta-stages. And man, is this an awesome thread to read... (still better than Twilight.)

For the rest, this thread is a great repository for those who come to a nasty surprise 12/16... But on that day, the first 'I hate Open!!' will be flooding the boards...
Some exciting times ahead for a forumite. I tell you, I have fond memories from the TS4 titanic. Good times!

I've never kickstarted anything and now I never will. People make bad decisions, like deciding not to make a product that's already been advertised and sold, I understand that can happen but it's not a situation I'd enter into lightly. What I can't understand is the decision not to immediately refund those affected.

I don't actually want to be here, yet here I am waiting for news on the refunds and watching an epic PR disaster unfold and spread the longer this goes on.

The corporate toadies and most especially the accountants and lawyers are driving this response - expect no mercy.

The big problem I have with that is that the reason why people are getting refunds denied is because they've downloaded / played alpha or beta.

Take it up with recently amended UK consumer law and get over yourselves wanting to have enjoyed something for nothing. FDEV are a UK (-and admittedly part Canadian!) firm and so UK Consumer law will apply to sale of their goods as follows;

Intangible digital content (e.g. downloads.) The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2014 contain specific provisions for digital content...

...blah, blah...

... the consumer must also acknowledge that once the download starts they will lose their right to cancel.

Refund policy to the letter of the law, and as per news#50 graciously extending the 14day (unused) right to refund - in the circumstances - as a gesture of goodwill to the minority whittering on, moaning, and frankly boring the rest of us to tears with the plethora of essentially duplicated whinge posts that are ovewhelming the mods. I see why the BBC denied posting of comments on their report lol.

[ps - I clicked this thread in error again amongst New Discussions, and am further astounded at the audacity of so many freeloaders here. You're all making us genuine ED pirates and smugglers look tame in comparison! Your voluntary removal from the ED universe will be a great loss to the majority and good luck with all your legal challenges and rotflmao... class-action suits!]

(I really hope there's not an even heavier one created over the weekend).

Like I mentioned before, I reckon if they got a refund they would just buy themselves the game again in a few weeks and get the time they spent with the beta for free.

Will offline mode ever be implemented? Why not create a second "offline galaxy" with different secrets than the online one?
It is not out of the question we will create a cut-down game that is offline only, but this is not currently in our plan. It would still be a big undertaking to do well.

David hasn't even ruled it out forever according to the newsletter....

The only reason I can think of is, they lack the money to do it and continue the develpment or they are a greedy bunch of materialists...

I was there every day and for me the push came with the Mac edition.....Thousands from SC then came to ED..... I Remember offline and Stygron jumping with joy but for me the Mac version saved the day.
If the pitch was say offline till the games funded he could have announced no offline 6 months after the kickstarter and had it done and dusted long ago.
The only reason not to tell you is if your still trying and intending to have offline mode......
But a final decision has to be made before the official release ( or you would be in trouble ) so bad timing....Stupid leaving till the last minute ....but no foul play I don't think ...

A lot of us were there throughout.

I don't think the Mac verion specifically got Elite over the line. It was only confirmed late in December. The funding had been climbing steadily since mid December, which if I remeber correctly ED was on course ot fall short of it's funding requirements up to that point.
