No Single Player offline Mode then?

I've just read all the posts by the developers in this thread, specifically by Mike. Patience of a saint, that man.

I understand people being disappointed. But I've never seen a developer respond 30+ times in a single thread like this. It's very clear for the reason this had to happen, clear it wasn't what they wanted to do and clear they had no intent to mislead anyone. And anyone who wants more than a 30+ post explanation have been advised they can request a refund.

I don't think there's any more they could have done. Well, nothing short of making two games or ruin the online game just to appease the offline only crowd.

Ohh and surprise surprise the topic has been all about 20 -30 people that have stable enough connection to post up all day but apparently not stable enough to play in an online game. Shocked i really am.

Ohh sorry i forgot its about being able to play after the servers got turned off i forgot. /s

Its insulting because it insinuates that the dev's are purposefully trying to steal your money and calling someone a liar is obviously insulting. I beyond caring if i insult a few madhats to be honest.

There have been successful prosecutions for fraud based on withheld information. Those people believe Frontier knew about this issue a long time ago. I think they probably knew there MAY be an issue, but didn't determine to axe the feature until very recently. In any case, communication that offline was becoming less likely could perhaps have alleviated this burden.

Well, let us hope the mods to not share your opinion that you don't need to care about that.

well to be honest that poll.. can be rigged ;) I could select all 3 answers :p and really the forums etc are not a clear cut segment of the community.. forums tend to be the most passionate and vocal minority of a userbase (sorry guys it's true!) the real hit can only be seen by frontier and by taking into account not only here, but Reddit and other places, gone are the days of 1 place = the main voice.

Awesome! Also, this poll is interesting. The vocal minority appear to be just that, in the minority.

I voted for the more information from FDEV option, as did at this time, 14% of voters. Now we have that information I would vote for giving refunds. It would be rude not to really given the promises. I agree legally people would probably not be able to claim refunds if FD contested but anyway - you are right even then it is just a sizable minority for whom single-player was the main reason for buying it.

Yes, but if you look at the post count, many people are posting multiple times. So even if you count three posts a piece (which is definitely under the count for many here), then you are down to less than 1000 individuals.

Yes, less than 1000 - of people who want to play offline, who maybe don't have an internet connection, or an unreliable one. I'm posting here, my brother - sans internet - is not. See how that works?

After playing the game for the last few hours i figured i'd pop back to the forums and surprise surprise the dummy is still being thrown out of the pram, just make your decision and either ask for a refund and leave or kindly stop ruining the experience for those that still care.

That is the plan. But some said we should not get refunds, or that this is not DRM. Aren't we allowed to argue with them? Just play your game and let us complain.

The gaming press will place judgement on release day. Look at reviews of AC Unity, SimCity, etc.

This is exactly what I'm affraid of. Frontier releasing a clearly unfinished version of the game must mean that they are under some sort of financial pressure.
Bad reviews mean that fewer people will buy the game. Less income for Frontier, less development, etc.

And bad reviews WILL come when the release version has the same depth and features as 3.05 has.
E : D has been getting lots of good press, based on what has been delivered AND the features known to be still in the pipeline.

I really don't see Frontier adding a fully functioning persistent universe in four weeks time.
Likewise I don't see them fixing the netcode mess in that timeframe.
This game has AWESOME potential, but in it's current form I fear it will only appeal to us diehard space-simmers.

Edit: noticed I posted in the offline discussion thread, so to keep my reply kinda on topic: I feel for those affected by this cut, but I never cared much about solo offline.

And you do realize I take up one line in those stats - the same as you - right?
