No Single Player offline Mode then?

Decision was made, it has been explained, questions have been asked and answered, at one time I had a lot of sympathy for those affected.

Refunds for those who can't play.

I really don't see how or why there needs to be a thread at the top of the forum acting as a magnet for anyone who wants to have a go at the community.

You aren't venting at the company you are actually having a negative impact on the community now.

Take it to email, take it to a solicitor, sorry guys but that's the real world.

Frontier need to really seriously look at their community management right now, today, and bloody well put this to bed.

Why are you even here then? Frontier doesn't need your protection.

Modding from the sidelines are we?

Read where I said it is negatively affecting the community now.

At least have the decency to take up your issue with Frontier.

This isn't achieving anything unless you intend to damage the community.

I answered them on their reply on my ticket and they take their time to answer. The first answer I got was a blanket statement. I see no way to get in a conversation with them outside of legal actions or waiting for them to find the decency in their heart to talk to me like a customer and not like a thief.

To be honest I backed SC...It wasn't mentioned it would be 64 bit only.......So I haven't been able to play any of the modules and it means I have to buy a new Windows etc when it does arrive
Same sort of thing but I just accepted that's the way it goes as the project progressed ?

faq...

What are the minimum system requirements for the Hangar Module?Windows 7 or 8 64-bit Dual Core CPU Intel: Core2 Duo 2.4Ghz AMD: Phenom X2 8GB of RAM NVidia Geforce 460GTX AMDRadeon HD5850 DirectX 11. Keep in mind that these are estimated system requirements and may change for the final release of the game.

Someone forcing you to read all this? Just askin.

This thread is linked on a dozen gaming sites now, it affects the community and this community is well established and is one of the best game assets Frontier have.

That's what forces me to read it. Think about how this is affecting others.

I agree completely "Frontier need to really seriously look at their community management right now, today, and bloody well put this to bed". For a international company with many heavy hitters the only thing I see them doing is this:

Tell them that, please. This thread is not helping any of you guys.

eh, I didn't drop 80 bucks with the intent to to buy an MMO. Not that there's anything wrong with MMO's, they just take large blocks of time and a regular commitment that I'm not interested in devoting to a video game at this point in my life.

And for my part, I didn't "pledge to a kickstarter". I decided to back the game when it was well into mid-stage development, presuming that the game was far enough along that the developers would know if something as big as an offline mode would still be on the table or not. And from this recent newsletter and interviews, it sounds a lot like they like they did already know that offline wasn't going to be part of the package by that time, they just decided that they weren't going to say anything about it quite just yet...

If you're happy about where you've spent your money, then that's great. Be happy. That statement is intended without sarcasm or ill-will. It seems like it will be a fine game for what it is.

It just does not happen to be the game that I was willing to spend a premium for, to help push it that last few steps towards publication.

For those just saying "Ewww, I have to have a universe that's occasionally synchronised" even when they don't have to share sky with other people? Nope.
The "Single Player Online" mode that we seem to have been given instead of an offline mode is a complete joke. What's the point of single player if you can't stop or pause it when you need to? And pretending that this somehow "isn't like DRM" is just insulting. At least with normal DRM you can stop the game and come back to the same point later. That is not an option here, because it's somehow important to share a persistent universe with people you're not playing the game with...

The part you seem to be missing is this. The whole concept of doing what you just described, works in their favor by allowing them to play the game you see being played out now when people are asking for refunds. It's word games basically. It's vague and ambiguous. By buying into their pre-pay play the beta scheme, you are setting yourself up to be taken to the cleaners, just like you are seeing now.

Oh no, but everyone wants to jump on the wagon and feel special, I got a mug for donating $100, gee, I hope you really enjoy that $100 mug because that's all some people will get for their trouble. You are being sold dreams. Sure they may turn out ok, but then again, they may not. It's the mechanics of the ploy. It puts all the cards in their hands and your hands stand a good chance of ending up empty.

But we all bought into it, right? We enjoyed and played their software before the game was finished. We all knew things would be cut before release. Is it really logical to expect to get a refund after having already played their game?

In any case, I'm sorry you feel that way. But certainly you will receive a product, which I assume you have already played and enjoyed, at launch? If you cannot play it, I am truly sorry, but perhaps you could find a cheap internet subscription where you live? If that is impossible, I am not sure how you downloaded the file, but I am very sorry.

I think the solution is, next time, to wait until a game is shipped, or has implemented the desired/necessary features before buying into it.

Again, I am sorry the game is not all you expected. It is very good, and I don't think they did it maliciously.

But this is from the SC KS Page

Can you estimate the system requirements for Star Citizen?
There will be a lot of optimization in the next 24-months, plus the usual fast pace of technology, so it is hard to say absolutely. At the moment you will be able to play it on a dual core PC with a GTX 460 or greater and 4GB of system memory. If you’re running an i7 2500, 2600, 2700 or better with a GTX 670 or greater then the stars are the limit! Since the game is built on CryEngine, their system requirements will stay roughly the same as ours.

Well, let's see about that. Who created the firestorm? The people posting, or the people who caused the people to start posting?

I'm a little bit offended by this comment as I have only thought about the community when I donated the same day ED opened up on Kickstarter. I can't underline this enough this could have been handled with finesse and style but was handled with pushing the head deep in the send and then a quick interview and transfer of responsibility to costumer service department. Who in turn have been responding with cookie cutter refunds rejection letters.

Bloody hear hear! If you feel swizzed, then take it to the people you think swizzed you.

As it is, what you're doing is trying to bloody the face of the game the rest of us absolutely freaking adore, and you're harming it, the community, and what it might become. Your grievances are voiced, your paths to restitution are clear.

As I say - you didn't get exactly what you want after buying a lottery ticket. And that's what a kickstarter or a paid beta is. It's looking like all you want is to ruin it for everyone else, now. Which, frankly, isn't winning any bloody friends. I had all the sympathy in the world when the offline mode was pulled, but now it's just turned into "Corporations are evil! Words are bad! This is a corporation which uses words! So it is bad! Kill the bad thing! Kill it for using words and money! Because corporations shouldn't use either!"

Ad absurdiam.

So I guess you would be fine if they cut the online part and gave you heart felt platitudes right?

Yes and they delivered in spades.

Looks like you might have a little boot polish on your tongue there.

Right, and you know what, the community management has not impressed me one bit since this kicked off.

Which is exactly why the language and attitude in this thread really has the potential now to balkanise the community even further.

The damn game needs a great community and if anyone on this forum could help you guys they would. But they can't, all anyone can do is protect their own investment of time and money and look forward to release.

Please I am actually begging, calm it down, stop arguing, it's depressing and counter productive.

I'll buy an account for £20 if & when they introduce gifting of accounts, you can hold me to that.

To be honest, I don't care about the rest of the community after I saw how fast you guys throw people of that same community under the bus, just because you're afraid these people with their own opinion might hurt the game.
