No Single Player offline Mode then?

I'm part of the KS myself. It was an important part of the KS campaign for you maybe. Not for me.
The important part of the KS campaign for me was actually getting the game made in the first place.
The second major point for me was that it was an on-line multiplayer experience.
anything else was just a bonus.

But the game you wanted to get made is not the same as the game I wanted to get made - and at that point (KS stage) FD were promising to make both your game and my game. Now, though, FD have pulled my game and are making your game only. Well that's nice and I am happy for you, truly I am, but that doesn't help me, and I am only asking for what I was promised when I handed over my cash. Your attitude of "I'm all right Jack", or more importantly the fact that you like to parade it in public, makes you look like a really petty, selfish individual with social issues.

How funny. So many of you online only people keep making comments about offliners having an, "entitlement," attitude. What you have basically said here is, as long as you get what YOU want, you don't care if anyone else gets the shaft. Nice. I really wish I had a way of going back into time and changing the whole thing to where they dropped the online part after promising it would be available.

I bet you would be having fits and seizures.

Big fat YUP. +1

Noble? Heroic? No not at all.

He is acting by the same morale standards as FD currently are.

By not refunding people they are keeping these people unwillingly tied in this newly created MMO community.

And we all know that two wrongs make a right.

Your post is true, but the fact remains that those "very VERY few" are still AFFECTED. They should be offered a full refund by Frontier Developments, even if they were online and playing for every minute of the alpha and beta phases. The fact that it seems like they won't (going by the FD responses people have quoted on these forums), is not on, because it means that they have apparently been suckered into paying to be testers for a product they will not be able to use.

Yes indeed, but please let those people the choice to say that they are angry if they are angry.

For me it looks like that you and some others who seem NOT being affected by the declined offine mode in any way seem to be angry, because others are angry.

This is something I do not understand...

Let THEM speak if they like but why are you trying to raise up a camp fire to a forest fire ?!?
Because you like to see the forest burning?

but that's the point - the majority of them can use it.

No I can't use it.

Solo still uses the same persistant universe as Multiplayer, all actions in multiplayer affect solo, you just won't ganked by other players.

I don't have the time or energy to keep up with an online game in a persistant universe.

I was promised an offline game and backed ED because of that. A game which I could switch off and leave for weeks or months and come back to and find the game universe in basically the same state. Not a game where I would come back to find the commodity market turned upside down and all the systems I wanted to look at explored already. Not a game where all the competing traders (who I cant see) now have a massive advantage over me.

I know that sounds incredibly boring to you, but I wanted a game I can play at my leisure, not a game I have to pour countless hours into just to keep myself on a level footing with everyone else. I'd still play Eve if that was what I wanted.

I'm glad you are happy with the game. Just don't be surprised and outraged that not everyone feels the way you do

Yup pretty much. That's the reality of the situation as I see it, pending the strap line of them looking into individual cases claiming refunds etc
I appreciate you won't like that viewpoint, but, well. Not much else for me to say really.
Best of luck with your endeavours.

Rather callous attitude don't you think? Might not bode well for them in the long run. Oh well, time will tell.

Yup I agree as well!!!

You guess is correct...( at least in my case). I increased my backing only after offline and DRM-free was offered for the old-school experience.

From the Kickstarter site.

Ugh, too slow... anyway, I'll note that at the time a lot of people where stating in the threads that they were interested in a new Elite, but not in a MMO... I would guess that a decent percentage of the most generous backers did this for the old-school experience... after all we're the ones with a lot of disposable income...

I'll add that there's a Design Decision Forum composed by people that paid a *lot* of money to be at least somewhat informed and consulted regarding the development of the game.
Essentialy they (we) paid to be a focus group, where FD were able to test their ideas and see how the public would react to them.
Some members put in a really large amount of effort into helping FD attaining their vision.
Needless to say, there were never any consultation about this surprise there. So much for paying to be kept informed...

well i had 25k gbp in 5 accounts pledged (after db, dw telling me no pledge upwards of 5k due to ks uk possible) until i learned of the ipo. spent a multiple of that since on shares, the game, all book projects, related charities, FDEV pizza, my new rigs and updates to alpha/ddf for various community members - and i have not asked a single question ever, except how can i help.

a friendly suggestion from me, if you value your money that much, take better care of it and talk less of it.

ps: hello trolls

For gods sake they tried and it wasn't gonna work out without screwing the rest of the game...

It isn't slander if it is true.

It was also stated everywhere that offline play would be supported. The game wouldn't exist right now if they wouldn't have "committed" to it as a core goal -- the Kickstarter would have failed and the project would have been cancelled.

Here are just some of things that were being said up until a few days ago:

"Their" own, and the answer is me, along with a number of other people who feel the same way. That's why the thread is as big as it is, and why it's a big deal.

Glad it's not a big deal for you and you're getting the game that the "offliners" helped fund to fruition.

Enjoy it. Your empathy is astounding, btw.

Of course I have empathy for you and the others who feel that they have been let down. But as mentioned in my post there was no guarantee it was going to happen. I hope that you still play the game online and that the others do to. Maybe we shall meet in space and trade or fight side by side together. Oh and by the way thanks for correcting my spelling mistake. I never proof read what I type. lol

You know what FD? I say give them the bloody offline mode exactly as it is and we will hear them whine how boring/lonely it is. LEL......

Oh yea and watch them distribute the game to their mates so they can all whine in unison

I'd actually just try for a refund and move on. If I couldn't get a refund I'd sell my account and move on.
If I couldn't do either, or most likely, couldn't be bothered, I'd just move on.
Similar happened when I paid for Legendary Founder status in Mechwarrior Online, and it didn't pan out to what I hoped.
I moved on.
Try it, it's invigorating.

No....please reread their posts! :)

And: "Is offline mode an impossible problem, or just unfeasible?
It is a creative decision, not wanting to produce an empty game."

This was a choice, not an unavoidable consequence of technical or even budgetary constraints. Braben/FD *CHOSE* not to develop a game that matched the things they originally said which convinced us to give them our money.

What it was not going to do was make them more money in AD, Ship Upgrades, and future Monthly Fees. But don't worry those will be there so all the servers can run and make the game more interesting! }:)
