Nobody for ironman?

Depends if you play as a group, since people on Ironman can only play with people on Ironman. So great for lone wolf, not so great for the pack when you lose a member unless they want to start from scratch..

G

it depends how far from the spawn systems you are..... no reason why Mad Mike IV could not meet up at a designated system.

but that being said, it IS called IronMAN not IronMEN ;)

Sorry for a bit of side-jacking...
I don't recall reading anything specific about this... I vaguely recall the idea being mulled around once long time ago...

But, will the dead Ironmen be recorded?

Might seem like strange question, but has several quite severe IMO ramifications for game-play / sense of achievement / role-play.

1. record keeping - you have a 'proof' to backup all your stories from that great Ironman Explorer, Warrior, Trader character that has since passed away...
[imagine having Elite ranked Ironman that dies, and you have no official record it has ever existed..]

2. comparative game-play - seems self-explanatory - you can compare with [legendary] dead achievers

3. character naming - your have Ironman char under your reserved name, (s)he dies, you choose to make new one with your reserved name - if dead ironman chars are kept in record, there is naming convention complication or conflict [dynasty? MuthaF II.? ]

4. believability - since said characters lived, died and often achieved things, seems strange to just disappear in record if not stored in some way.

Anyone got relevant info that i've missed? Thoughts?

lol, forgot to say the (now i guess) obvious: I will play Ironman too, though probably not from the very beginning

Not a bad idea imo. Cannon Fodder on the Amiga did something similar back in the day.

I mentioned something similar a good while ago. There's nothing really been said by the devs one way or the other.

I think some sort of memorial would be appropriate though.

I like the idea of memorials but it would have to be for ironman pilots that actually achieved something, like getting to dangerous rank (for example) ... otherwise there's going to be a lot of names to remember !
