But as a pirate I do not want to see this idea of Open requiring 'consent flags' as in other games for PvP. It would ruin space piracy.
I dont like pvp- but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to be pirated.
Does that make sense?
I'd be totally fine with giving up me loot or even with a pirate shooting out specific subsystems to "encourage" me to "overthink" my unwillingness to give it away.
Or even with getting blown up when I fail to run away after not giving up stuff I have. actions and consequences.
Afaik there are ways to stop people from running away even without shooting their ship into pieces-stuff deactivating fsds so you sit there for half a minute sweating profusely begging for my life (and my cats life)
IMO Pirating gives more chances to make it not one-sided, offers options to roleplay and to get away even as someone not good in pvp by giving into demands.
What I wouldn't be okay is getting instagibbed by someone waiting outside of a station at the edge of the no fire zone without any communications.
Or in general just getting blown to pieces when I will be unarmed and without any valuables, without communication or worse-with very rude communication that clearly shows that the player doesn't gain anything besides some fun at wasting my time and the prospect of seeing/imagining me frustrated or angry over that loss of time.
I find the concept of piracy(not as pirate, mind you) rather charming, but knowing that there is a certain subsection of players who likes to blow up ships
because the prospect of angering, frustrating or saddening the pilot (i.e the human playing the game, who often enough has spent a lot of time working for it )
is the one thing that brings them the most fun or satisfaction.. (not making them run and therefore concede loss)
(and that its about that- triggering an outbursts of frustration at a loss. "mining salt"-and not from "legit" wins.
One doesn't gain mats or money, one gains a bounty even. Winning against someone weaker, new to the game and or unprepared can't really be used to brag about ability, so its not about being good at pvp either and you don't really learn anything new except maybe some expletives or slurs.)
knowing that those people exist and are either so active or numerous enough to influence a lot of people- in forum and filling PGs makes one very hesitant to gamble whether the other player is such "murderhobo" or someone RPing as a pirate.
Which is bad for those pirates too, I presume, because people will flee (or worse) without giving a chance for interaction at all for risk of loosing hours of game grind (that afaik even the murderhobos dont particularly like--see those who just got swatted by the devs for engineer-sploiting)
