Not Wasting our time....

So i've just been unlucky enough to hit an npc with missiles in a compromised nav beacon. and now have a bounty on me. when i tried to go and clear it nothing happens.
so a but of digging around on the forums and i'm led to believe there is a 2 hour timer before i can pay it off... now i get what FDEV are trying to do but explain how this is not wasting anyone's time?

2 hours of in game loitering so i can wait for a cool down timer before an can continue with what i was doing?

Combine that with the recent lockout of services for any wanted status and i'm sorry but it's just forcing me to wait. currently FA off floating around until the cooldown runs out.

is this the way FDEV plan for it to be played?

have they even said anything about an eta for a fix or feedback?

it makes me sad that they can change something so drastic so quickly but to fix it takes weeks if not months....

I have yet to be hit by this myself ... and I'm on the fence about whether or not it needs to be "fixed".

I'm 100% happy that C&P has been given some teeth but the game mechanics need to push players into doing SOMETHING (something fun) during the cool down period and not just force players to float around in space while watching Netflix and waiting on a timer. If there isn't a fun gameplay option to drive the player to keep PLAYING then, from a game mechanics POV, something isn't quite right. Right now that's kind of where we sit.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to make that cool-down timer into engaging gameplay to encourage people to PLAY the game and not just find a safe corner of the galaxy to fly adrift in?

FDev mommies. 'You can't play the game' for 2 hours, go straight to your room!!

Only Fdev would imagine this is great gameplay.

Does anyone know of any other game that does this? I don't.

Why loiter? Just skip to another jurisdiction and keep on doing whatever you have been doing.

This. While I also think that FD need to make some adjustments to the new C&P, the two hour timer does not prevent you from playing the game. All it means is that you are wanted for those two hours.

AFAIK one could head into any other System (Anarchy preferably) and park a cheap Ship somewhere on a Planet surface. Or in Deep Space. And be AFK (just make sure you don't carry Cargo).

If done overnight, even Notoriety Level 5-6 would have worn off by doing virtually nothing, unless there's some Catch 22 I'm not aware of.

PS.
If there's any Planet with a nice, narrow but very deep Canyon, one could do it even with Cargo and Wanted right in the same System.
Spawned NPCs are unable to perform scans under such conditions, their Terrain Avoidance will prevent them from getting into a valid Scanning position indefinitely.

I guess the same could be done in an SRV (those never get scanned), but even with max. Energy savings I guess it'd require a Refuel after some 2-3hrs AFK.

Done similar.
2 hours downtime - annoying but OK.
While logged in, childish and spilling over into 'personal' punishment.
Not sure about FD's mindset at the moment.
Video game for fun versus shadow morality play........

You know...the two hour cool down only occurs if you murdered the ship...

Actually there is an edge case, where you will be awarded the murder if an NPC finishes off a ship that you were the last player to hit (e.g. accidental friendly fire). In this case, the notoriety increase should be suppressed (imo). Though you should still get fines/bounties for friendly fire, I'm not suggesting those are wrong in any way. :)

that's what happened the AI finished him off i got the bounty,
i'm about to find out if i can repair in another system if i can't then they really have messed this up.

i think the worst party really ignoring the 2 hour cool down is the lockout from station services across most if not all of the universe.

i'd like to think if i snuck off to some back water they would never have heard of me.

That has always been the case. Likewise if you shot at an Wanted NPC within 10s and another NPC had the last shot, you got the bounty claim.

I think the new C&P is going in the right direction generally. Although I think the notoriety should be a Pilots Federation thing. For when one commander kills another.
Yes I know you can go do other stuff while notorious, but if you factor in; is this fun? Does it coincide with my plans for this session? Have I got another suitable ship? Have I got to wait for it to transfer? If I go elsewhere will I have the local faction rep to do what I want?
Flow breaking stuff, that I feel warrants attention.

Ummm nope. Because it helps stop folk sitting destroying a specific factions ships to undermine.

Archeage, you can get sent to prison for realtime punishment for X amount of time (you're actually judged by a jury of other players and if found guilty get sentenced), except there, because it's actually got a working Multiplayer setup, you spend the time interacting with other Player crims and get a prison outfit - it also has pirate strongholds and an actual gameplay loop for the bad people in the game <sigh> (such a shame Trion ruined it with Pay2Win cashshop) - best MMO I ever played.

People can't think for themselves...didnt you know that?

why. I've built up rep with this system so i get some decent missions CZ if i go else where i have to start again.
maybe they could add Assisted Murder to the list of crimes one that doesn't carry quiet the same punishments a stiff fine any maybe a 30min exclusion

so I've just flown over to empire space to find something else to-do for a bit, so why is it that if i pick up a bounty in federation space and go back to empire where i'm allied and ranked. i'm still locked out of fitting services.
for legal reason...
you'd think i'd get a pat on the back for giving the feds some stick lol
