Nothing wrong with Elite

I'm not really sure the OP qualifies as a new player with a thousand hours in the game, even if there are things left unexperienced.

Regardless, there is still a lot to do and I still have a lot of fun with the game. Indeed, I wouldn't play it as much as I have or still do, if I didn't think it was worth my time. However, blind praise isn't an impetus to improve and ignoring flaws in something one's purchased is just invitation to be taken advantage of in the future.

Well, at 1000 hours basic gameplay still can do wonders. In fact, one of the few things that remained enjoyable and awesome (to me) in the game was docking and un-docking, it almost makes me reinstall the game...

I do get your point, I just wanted to highlight, that some aspects of the game are so magical (for those still in the long honeymoon phase) that they eclipse the flaws by design or by bug. I.e. I'm not saying you re not right, I'm saying I understand the OP's attitude - and in fact this is why I'm so appalled how the game is being mismanaged.

I don't think the issue is about whether customers will cough up money. It's about the lack of new content purchasable to customers.

I personally don't agree with the notion to buy the same game twice just for a second save slot, but fine if others are ok with that. If FDev twisted my arm I could possibly be convinced to buy a second save slot via Arx if it was offered and priced fairly (as ridiculous as it would be but just shows how us Elite players are conditioned at this stage that this would be acceptable).

But I would definitely pay full price for proper, full-fat DLC (provided it actually works) rather than messing about with largely sub-par quality microtransactions that don't really add anything to the game itself. I don't believe I'm alone either. It's got nothing to do with Arx either which is a separate topic really.
Not so much about willingness to spend money on Elite, but the fact that we're looking for a lot out of a game with a very low cost on our end. Considering the resources they have coming in for Elite, I think the pace of development isn't bad - we're not a huge, chart-topping game, and the microtransactions are incredibly no-impact on the game.

FDev wanted to do a lot in Horizons, and instead of just backing down and pushing it to a new expansion they stuck with it.

Generous? Don't make me laugh. When I bought RDR2*, it was a FINISHED game (unlike ED), and then later they added a completely new and separate component (RDO) for free. Granted, RDO offers microtransactions, but so does ED (cough STORE cough). ED's updates are either fixing broken things (bringing back colors to beige planets) or adding trivial things like the FSS to fill in place holders. RDR2 and other games like it don't have placeholders to be filled like ED does, so they don't NEED the updates that ED needs, and when we do get updates for things like bugs, they are free.

This goes for just about all the games I own - Tomb Raiders, Uncharted, Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc. But then there are games like Overwatch and NMS, both of which have gotten way more content over the years FOR FREE than ED has. So tell me again, how is Frontier more "generous" than every other gaming company out there?

blablabla

I didn't say more than every other gaming company out there. Apart from RDR 2 the games you listed are crap, worse than CQC if you ask me. Anyway, not much point in discussing with you about this since you are clearly unable or unwilling to get the point.

I am with you here. Am not sure why, objectively it is pretty simple but there is just something incredibly immersive dropping out of SC, approaching a station and flying in. They truly are massive beasts.

Can be quite squeeky bum as well if you do it FA off with no shields (not that I do it often that way I am not that good a pilot)

Spider-Man and Horizon Zero Dawn are crap, are they? LOL, well at least we agree there's no point in having a discussion, seeing that you are clearly disconnected from reality. Keep drinking that Kool-Aid, it must be good! :p

Nah, I am just doing the same thing you are doing. Posting nonsense (I never played Horizon Zero Dawn, I don't own a PS4). The problem is that you completely ignored the point I made (receiving content updates for a 5 years old game) and countered it by listing games which aren't even remotely related. Then you put words in my mouth. Why?

Because arguing on the topic makes it hard.

I agree that the games are unrelated and not really a good comparison to Elite, but where did he put words in your mouth?

That's what I said:
'Let's not forget though that, for a normal user, FDEV has been one of the most generous developers in the entire industry'

That's what he said:
'So tell me again, how is Frontier more "generous" than every other gaming company out there?'

Facts don't matter in the face of stubborn disagreement.

Forgive me, I missed the word "almost". Saying that FDev is one of the most generous developers in the ENTIRE industry (assuming game development is the said industry) is saying that Frontier is more generous than [almost] every other gaming company. Most > more > less, thus saying A is the most generous implies that B,C,D is less generous.

If I say you are one of the most annoying posters in this thread, that implies that you are more annoying that [almost] anyone else posting in this thread. I'm not saying this, but if I did, that's what I would be saying :p

I see, you meant a previous post. Nevermind then, sorry.

Do you just come here to insult people or do you also talk about Elite on occasion?

Btw, I literally said I agree with him. But that doesn't matter in the face of stubborn condescension.

Who cares what you said? Was I replying to you? Or was I replying to somebody else referencing the context of what somebody else said?

It was the latter.

Do try to avoid embarrassing yourself so.

At this stage, only a Steam Chart can help this thread out. Where have all the Steam charts gone!

O7,
🙃
Here you go, my new favorite space-game flavor of the month!

But as much as I'm enjoying this new (to me) game, there is PLENTY wrong with it. This is where I disagree with the OP regardless the subject of one's affection. "All sunshine makes a desert," so the Arabians say.
