Interestingly, The Expanse universe (books and television series) suggests that the "Belters" (workers in the asteroid belt) will have developed an entirely new patois dialect (culled from many different languages) within only two hundred years of living away from Earth. One of the cleverest aspects of this is that Lang Belta includes a lot of signing and hand gestures, which originated because emotions and meaning could not be discerned while working constantly in spacesuits.
