NPC destroyed me and I lost my data

To OP, that's pretty crummy.
I'm still irked that materials magically stay with the blown up CMDR, but not exploration data.

Aye Winter IS coming [yesnod], Its why my 'Conda the ISS Terra Nova is also heavily shielded, armed and modified. She's never fallen to anything or anyone and I hope her run of good luck continues.

But familiarity breeds contempt, it's time for us all to wake up and smell the entrails.

My my, CMDR Vooheez, is that the shiny new Elite Explorer badge you've switched to for your avatar? Very very nice; congrats on your recent promotion:)

It's affected when they run to the forums posting and crying that their unshielded ship has been destroyed by invincible AI and are bleating that it should be nerfed instead of looking at their recklessness.
Now if they got blown up and said nothing and didn't cry over it, then I couldn't give a fiddlers because we wouldn't have to listen to them.

Hey dude.

This is the exploration forum.

I realise you don't come here often but we do polite here.

Thanks

Save that trash for dangerous discussion, ty :)

That's pretty funny, actually--Dangerous Discussion is basically the equivalent of a McDonald's Play Place, while Elite Exploration is more like a bunch of gentleman sitting about in tweed jackets in leather armchairs smoking pipes and drinking snifters of cognac whilst reminiscing about the battle of the Bulge and "the big one":)

Ah yes, the days of battling with a big bulge... I remember 'em well... Now's where's that Havana? <cough>

Just so as you know I am not a snob, I too have misbehaved out there but been a good boy in here. Forum rules do not allow me to elaborate further :D

I am still 50kly out and heading home I really don't want to lose 6000+ scans of system data to a AI. I have no cargo but I do have a basic shield on my asp.

If that's the case as what has happened to OP then I will have task manager open on my other screen to combat log from AI within 750ly of bubble.

I am looking to sell some of my data at Pallaeni or what ever its called on my way back, then keeping some and heading to Farseer for upgrades.

Thanks for the video.
I wasn't talking about pulling the plug or the like, but about hitting esc and waiting the 15 seconds until you can legitimately log off. What else would you recommend with shot-down drives and FSD if you want to save your scan-data?

I've posted the video link twice now. Please watch it, before stampeding to the logoff key.

And scoot through unpopulated in-bubble systems, so you won't meet anybody. Then you only have one system to cross to dock and sell data.

Not nerfed just made more, erm, intelligent about target selection. If an NPC pirate interdicts you, scans you, demands your cargo and then attacks you for not dropping it when they already know you have nothing to drop that's just daft.

There should be NPCs out there that are hard as nails for people to test themselves against but equally it should be possible to mostly avoid combat by being unaligned (whether PP or temporary mission derived alignment) and having no cargo to steal.

Some are claiming that this is the case, others claiming otherwise. If, as more data arrives, the former are lucky rather than the latter unlucky then that is a problem. The resolution is to make fights something you can mostly avoid, not to make them easier to win for the players that want them.

Thanks for video, I do as you do.
Question : we are at system A , we want to dock at station in system B, we set route for B and C (our escape system). What is stopping the same thing happening after we high wake to C, then come back to B? Are we back in the same boat again?
The explorers with immediate problems are the ones who were already in deep space when 2.1 hit, like myself. As of 2.1 I wouldn't dream of fitting a class 3 shield on my Asp, and I would have an engineered Asp for longer range and better thrusters.
Me thinks my best option is to call for a wing on the outskirts of the bubble.

Try the Iridium Wing - they do advertise as armed escorts for Explorers coming back into the bubble.

It's close... It should be (from memory, the quote is from Bladerunner)

"I've seen things you people couldn't possibly imagine. Attack ships on fire on the shoulder of origin, C-beams twinkling at the Tanhauser gate. All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain. Time to die".

ETA - I wasn't quite right either. Damn you memory!

In the same situation here ..

"I have seen things will not Tsedkoha. Warships in flames on the shoulder of Orion. I've seen rumored Seine, shine in the darkness of Tanhauser gate. All moments lost in time, like tears in the rain"

Nice bit of prose .. is it translated correctly?

Thanks Commanders,

Glad you liked it. I translated those lines from Blade Runner into Arabic (I'm British-Syrian). Google Translate will make them wonky when translated back into English.
