NPC Wings In Solo Play- How will You Adapt?

Right back at you

I haven't seen any cheats in all the hours I've played, not to say they don't exist but if you were trading for real and your shipments kept getting hijacked, would you carry on or explore other routes, from what I hear the problems lie at the Lave system, there's millions of other systems. The beauty of this game is they are attempting to make it as real as possible, that means if you are hauling tons of cargo unprotected (alone without escorts) you are very likely to fall prey to pirates, if there are guys cheating they should be banned from the server, report them so FD can act accordingly.

Unfortunately, we are explorers with no cargo. Only many hours of painstaking data collection to lose. Note: I am armed and shielded.

While commanders are not going to get the option hiring NPC Wings (yet?!), I wonder if there is any chance of a mechanic with NPC Wings looking to hire additional wingmates (for credits?)

That could open up interesting mercenary scenarios with NPC-led combat missions, or NPC trader escort to 100LY+ destinations (perhaps with pay split between initial sign-on, and safe arrival at destination, or even a trade profit-share).

Nice idea. We may have to wait until Wings is proofed before they implement it.

To get back on to the original thread (before it turns into another Solo vs Open discussion), I will

  • point ship away from baddies
  • full pips to engine
  • FA off
  • push left to go all spirally
  • boost
  • boost
  • boost

All with Voice Attack, of course, and calmly plot course to get back into SC (if they are NPCs) or nearest star system (if they are players) while waiting for FSD cooldown.

At least, that is what I have in my mind.

In reality, it will involve a lot of swearing, heart pumping and screwing up the controls.

This is what I call the "button punching" phase, where all the standard methods of dealing with interdictions are carried out. Apart from outfitting the ship for combat, and situational tactics (choosing the best direction to run), it's pretty much SOP.

It's the multiple interdictions that get tiresome.

Have not got a clue , since I have not tried. :) ( answering OP's original question)
But lets wait and see the threat level and what interdiction chances are.
One thing though, according to comment of Sandro .. If you are Elite or like in combat status, dont fly crap ship, you will get hurt, as threat level matches threat level. :D
Sorry for Elite , Deadly combat ranking Cmdr's that have not got a dime, they will really get what they want : combat. hehe

Cheers Cmdr's

Anyone want to come with me out >500ly during GMT 00:00 to 02:00 and hang around while I scan some stars and planets?

Thought not.

If the pays good then why not? Biggest problem for me is not having anything to do half the time, bounty hunting, trading, exploring gets monotonous so yeah escorting explorers to safe space would definately be something I'd do and I'm sure there many others who'd do the same, also more importantly contact me on the way back no I'll rendezvous with you 500 lys out and escort you back. That would be pretty cool yo be honesty why wouldn't it work, all the mechanics are in place!
Just looked at your post again., I'm in the Mountain time zone so 12 am to 2 am GMT is 5 pm to 7 pm my time which would work pretty well

Before they nerfed the RES I used to love it when I was in there in my viper and I'd get a bead on a pirate, then even as I'm engaging him another one would scan me and say, "What prizes to you carry?" and then a third one and before you know it you're in a furball with you against three or four pirate cobras and the bouties would pile up fast. It was great fun.

I shall adapt by wearing an extra tough hat and another spoonful of sugar in my tea.

Of all the responses in this thread, this appears to be the most sensible.

You're all pontificating about something that doesn't yet exist. Gee, here's a thought: Let's wait until it actually comes out and you get to try it before jumping to conclusions and histrionic demands for change. I know for most it won't make a whit of difference to their myopic opinion, but pu-leese cut back on the drama. It's getting old and after seeing the same CMDR effectively saying 'that's it, I'm quitting over this' for the third time in a month... (head shaking)

We need to record all this high-pitched whining then combine them into a single WAV file. Then when the Thorgoids do come calling, FDevs will use that as their ship engine noise and have everyone clawing their ears off.

If Wings is a feature for solo and open mode, then that's good.
Stop being scared. Game without a little challenge & danger is a boring game.

Today i did my trade route during 2 hours. I got interdicted only once.
Took me 10 secondes to kill the npc pirate.
Too damn easy. Not a even a slight emotion.

I was literally laughing out loud at this comment, nice one :)

E: D was first announced as a game that would be able to be played alone, with friends or in open multi-player.

My bad, I stand corrected :)

I believe in about 10-ish days I'll find out how and if I'll have to adapt, I guess?
I'll probably just die, though, seeing how it's apparently the end of the world.

Well its not as bad as when the naffed the lights on the Python. Rage quit I tell ya!

Do you think these cahaneg might make Elite Dangerous a bit more Dangerous? Even more reason to play solo?

I am specialzed in running away and have become really good at it, it should work no matter how many NPCs want to shoot me. I hope ^^

This isn't an option unless you are in something really fast like a Cobra. I got interdicted by 3 yesterday and they tore off my shields and destroyed my type 7 in about 5 seconds flat. No amount of evasive boosting seemed to help either it was completely unwinnable. I think the only option is "submit and run" tactics. You might get away but if u lose an interdiction you are dead, no chance.
