Number of jump removed???

I like it but agree its a bit small.
And really, its just a look to the left. Not that hard. Who stares forward all the time. Im always looking round the cockpit, all the loose wires make me paranoid about a cockpit fire.
On the plus side... Yay to having combat/discovery mode remember where you had it set when booting up the game!

In practice staying in discovery mode has been nice so far. Generally I prefer to go exploring in a combat loaded Vulture though, so it might prove to be a bit problematic when I get back from Distant Worlds 2. But I don't mean to throw off the thread.

But yeah, a bit of a boost to the font size would be nice. I play on a gamepad game controller and even I find it easy to look over. I use the direction pad to pan over while holding one of the middle buttons or quickly tab over by holding one of the middle buttons and tabbing through panels with another. Releasing reverts to the forward view. Takes a fraction of a second, less time than to read what's there.

To be honest, I quite like that it is a bit smaller. I mean, it could have been a big tile with a large number, but it's not. I'm happy with what we got...

So, reading through all this...

Configurable HUD jump information options?
For instance out explorining I'm not overly fussed about security level but knowing if a star will be scoopable (either explicitly or tell me the type) might be nice.
There all sorts of things that could be useful, perhaps let us select a sub-set from a list?

Also, yes, the change confused me for a bit too - that move to the top bar was unexpected.

It needs to be bigger/easier to read - i couldn't tell if it was saying 6 or 8 jumps left the other day which I know isn't massively important but is annoying

That is the problem. I want to see it on the HUD at all times.
The same way I see my speed, my fuel and shields and etc.
Not cluttered behind new, meaningless information and only when plotted.
You want to see the remaining number of jumps without plotting a route? How does that work?

So, rather than ‘clutter’ up an occasional display with data you only need occasionally (which is where it’s always been), let’s clutter up the primary display with data you only need occasionally instead.

Have I got that right?

Put it in the Suggestions forum.
I’m sure FDev will give it the priority it deserves.

I did suggest it. It even garnered a few likes. A small, unobstrusive counter under the little orary.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.

The number for the jumps needs to be big enough you can read it in the split second between the opening and closing animation when you double tab the button for the nav panel.

Err it was always shown on nav panel. They just moved it a bit..

And its one button to press. ONE. Not 'a bunch of buttons' as you claim.

Well now, if you really want to split hairs with me, it is actually TWO button presses. One to look to the left and one to look straight.

If however, I was looking at my transactions before, I am up to exactly FOUR button presses.

Th1<, J2, J2, Th1<

I'll let you figure that out. You seem so smart.

It would be exactly ZERO buttons if it were on the HUD.

But why am I explaining myself to grown men and women on a public forum? Silly me.

The idea behind the change I like too, but it needs to be bigger, I'm over 40, my eyesight won' become better 😆
My problem in a nutshell. Playing on a console in the living room means I am not right on top of the monitor like you would be on a PC (or in the Frontier offices when coding).
As the game is marketed towards the ‘older’ gamer who is more likely to have glasss, please can the font on the number of jumps be a bit bigger.

Actually the game is marketed towards astronomers, so just use your telescope!

It's personal choice OP, but I would HATE to see a constant reminder of jumps remaining on my HUD, when I've just laid in a course & it's 486 jumps to the destination .....485.....484....483...482....481...480...479....Yuck!

How about covas? That's even more annoying but as long as it's optional I wouldn't care.
