Number of jump removed???

Appreciate the info CMDRs but it's half baked, as usual.
This game is always two steps forwards three steps back.

I just can't fathom what devs think sometimes.
I'm going to bed.

Please Fdev, put the number of jumps remaining on the HUD so we don't have to
look at the Nav panel every 2 minutes. I could care less what my next waypoints are
in a 22 jump trip. And if I lock a destination, in Nav, then automatically plot it because
that is where I obviously would like to go to.

Thank you.
So you're not actually complaining about something being removed, now you know it's still there, you're now complaining it doesn't do something it didn't do previously?

Rather than just saying "Ah, I see, I missed it".

It's personal choice OP, but I would HATE to see a constant reminder of jumps remaining on my HUD, when I've just laid in a course & it's 486 jumps to the destination .....485.....484....483...482....481...480...479....Yuck!

Totally. On long journeys I often forget to look at the number of jumps left then when I finally do, it usually a nice surprise.

I play in VR (Oculus Rift) and I'm finding that I actually have to lean over towards the Nav panel in order to read the number of jumps. Both the choice of font size and the choice of print and background colours are - well, basically incompetent.

Edit: me and Rudal both, unless lots of other people post making the same point before I finish this edit!

When even my degraded eyes are able to read that in an instance it can't be that tiny ;)
Once you found out where to look it isn't a problem at all - you will automatically look at the right place next time...
I actually like the new location an layout much better.
It's a nice an clear layout. You can easily read it from left to right:
Current Location -> Next Location -> Final Destination.

It's more the colours for me. I sit about 15ft away from the telly and I can see the distance/time to target clearly and that font is smaller than the jumps remaining font. But I can only make out the jumps remaining if there's 1s or 7s in there. I can see 1, 7, 17, 71 fine, but anything else looks like 8 or 88.........

It is a bit small isn't it?

Im near Sag A so I don't really care - A quick squint and it's 40 something to go - that'll do for me at the moment

However if it did get a bit bigger/clearer that would be nice

OP - I don't want the main screen to be any more cluttered, two button presses is not the end of the world

Don't have an issue with it, and that's in VR. Lousy eyesight too (but then again if I didn't have the contacts in you'd only be able to fit in a couple of characters per panel at a size I could see them).

For what it's worth, I have really good vision and still find it too small, especially with the blurry HUD lighting effects and all that. I am also a couch and home entertainment system/theater player though, but using a PC.

Cheers.

Agreed. May the best idea win. Forgot that VR users can just look around to see things us mortals have to push a bunch of buttons for, lol.

Well, let's start a customisable Hud campain. See how good that upvote thing works.

U can do that too with little trouble if u have it set so that the panels appear as u turn your head, just press middle mouse button and look around and ull see the info u want pretty quick without going threw menus...
Doe it only takes a press of the "1" key to see and again to close...

But as a player u are entitled to your opinion and wanting a customizable hud, wich isnt a bad idea, just dont know if it is feasable.

PS- The number is quite small for what it was, and in certain conditions hard to tell, should had been as before.

I had trouble finding it then upon studying the screen I could see the little tiny number in the destination jump. I find the screen much better now. No keyboard issues have presented themselves after the update.

I'm over 40, my eyesight won't become better
Tell me about it. At 54 I would now pay serious money for pills that soften my eye lenses so I can focus different distances again, would that they exist. I don't mind glasses, it's needing three pairs that wisses me off.

Anyway, I like the new jumps countdown display. In VR I find it easy enough to read. Is it really that small on a flat monitor?
