Guide / Tutorial Nutter’s explorers guide to the Galaxy

Hehe, well, I think I'll take a short break at this point until 1.1 comes out properly. :) I wonder if they have changed some values, too, given that those moons there all seem to be returning the same amount?

I would never expect this but it seems my name will be here and there too
CMDR Conash
Found : 1539 items in 137 systems
!!!
Even better yet i am 957th on the list by amount of bodies discovered.
Taking into account i still am far away from Asp and most of those discoveries were in hauler and some in cobra without ADS

And Zulu Romeo got credit for Sagittarius A

I think I'm just going to stay out in the deep dark until 1.1 hits, then take an evening or two to pore over the delicious data when I finally dock.

I have yet to go out there and explore the galaxy (been doing anything but so far) but I'm wondering how much of it has already been explored. Obviously there's so many of them out there, but is there or will there be any way to check from a station if a particular system has been explored (data sold to UC) by someone? Shouldn't there be data available for purchase if it was?

Since I have just started out on the almost mandatory pilgrimage to Sag A*, I expect I will not be back until after 1.2 hits! I have no guns, so I just hope they do not make wholesale changes to AI and interdiction that might cause me trouble on the last 500LY clutching my data worth a small fortune.

So I got back from my trip to the Crab. Over 15,000 Ly traversed. Visited 930 Systems which provided just short of 16 million Cr. Started out as a Pathfinder and will leave on my next expedition as a Ranger. 3 Neutron Stars, 2 Black Holes, over 20 Ammonia Worlds, 12 Earth Likes and 50+ Water Worlds.

I hear that Sag A gains 300k for the scan. So I was pretty pleased to find this system...

The only problem is that I believe I may have run into a (known?) bug... I cannot access the system in my Galactic Map also others that I visited and scanned.

Off to do some research on where to go next.

I was thinking of heading back to do some rares until I get my Asp, but I got so tired of the damn NPC's disturbing by scanning that I said "screw it" and went back out. My first destination was Snake. Nothing to see there :p Guess I'll head further, but wish I had clues of worthy places, I'll save Sag A for the Asp.

if you try searching for the system name minus the last number so pheia ain ro-z d it will wildcard search, keep going 14 times and you should arrive at system d14.

Guys, i need a little help here.
I am having some issues with the star classifications displayed on the galaxy map and when the star is scanned. The example is a B5 III class star. According to the classification this should be classified as a giant star, however when i scan it - it is just a normal blue-white star.
I have already seen some giants and super giant stars displayed correctly after scan (also the dwarfs are displayed correctly), so i am curious if the procedure generation engine is screwing with us again.

EDIT: Just found a second giant star - this time a G8 III class. It's massive and yet again it is reported as a normal white-yellow star...

this gas giant wit water based life, outside NGC 7822 Nebula, is a lone planet in a system and is 23k + Ls from the star

do npcs that interdict you get more aggressive in solo mode? because i will soon be coming back with 1000+ systems scanned, and i don't want to risk anything.

I think it's a bit random, but they were extremely pesky in my journey, I would take a boring route home in that stretch so you can just speed across the stars and jump onwards without scanning if I had a lot of valuable goods.

Yep, it would seem we've been in the same area... I found that one last night.
I just got back from NGC 7822 and I don't think I had a single first discovery thingy... but I don't know what such a notification would look like even if I got one.
I full scanned every bright blue star out there... it too me 3 days :D But I don't think I got any first discoveries

Space Time :D

If you really want to score discovery firsts you should start with this rule of thumb : most, if not all, landmarks on this side of the galaxy are either already scanned or out of jump range.
When 1.1 is live you can also add to the list of most likely scanned all Neutron/Black Holes/WD/WR/Carbons ... well every rare stellar objects.

NGC 7822, "The UFO"
I must say that discovery doesn't pay that much for the effort, but the trip out there was spectacular. My initial plan was to go to that nebula system that looks like a martini glass with an olive in it, but after a full day of jumping, I took the next best thing with the NGC 7822 Nebula. I had seen it in another thread where a player had thought it was a UFO... or I suspect it was this system he was looking at because it can be seen from 3000Ly away.

One thing I did notice....
It was a newby shock to see just how far civilization had spread from what I came to know as my home base of MOKOSH. I had been burning up the fuel doing nothing but trade limiting myself to everything from MOKOSH to SOL. "So the trip did open up my eyes quite a bit to how much there is", because I had never been out that far. The furthest I had been was the PipeStem before deciding to give discovery another try.

Funny thing...
One thing that was funny about the trip is that my Thai Girl Friend who doesn't speak much English began repeating "3...2...1.. engage". She usually just hums the Docking Computer's Symphony :p because I had been trading so much.

I'm not ready to go back out right now...
I think I'll now take out the two A3 Field Repair Units and replace them with cargo racks to go back and check out some of the newly found Federation Stations I passed along the way ;)

Space Time :D
