Oculus Rift SDK update

Oculus SDK 1.0 has been given a Firm release date for Nov, I would assume FD may get their hands on it sooner ?

Having access to the pre-release beta is one thing. But they still need the final firmware before they are able to claim 100% compatibility since things change right up to the last minute.

Nope. We bought DEV Kits AKA For Developers. ED is made by a developer, so they get it the same time we do because we bought it as developers.

I mean it blows having to stay on window 8.1 when 10 is so much nicer, and you can even pipe games to the rift from your xbox one (not sure how far they are on that, Ive seen people do it, but its new so)
But hey we've been playing in a way that Frakking amazing for so long...I mean once you play with the rift you just can go back. I have 3 25" monitors and it bugs the out of me to play it on screens. But it compatibility is on its way, not to mention CV1 itself which I am going to Pre-Order. The Tech is solid....Weve enjoyed complete compatibility for so long (and that is amazing in of itself) That it is a pain right now...but We bought dev kits so it shouldn't be uprising there's gonna be issues.

It's images like this, convinced me that i should by purchase Elite.[/QUOTE]

I personally found Elite just by looking for Games when I got my Rift. Damn Glad I did!

VRFocus are reporting that SDK 1.0 is now coming in December:

That would be a nice Xmas present.

So, if you bought an Oculus Rift today, and then tomorrow you bought a copy of Elite Dangerous,
you'd be in for a nasty surprise.
how do I set up Elite for Oculus again?
Oh, i understand, we don't talk about that here.

Updated to Windows 10. Then updated Oculus to runtime 7 for compatibility, before learning ED not supporting runtime update. I've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous rollbacks and troubleshooting steps to get previous runtimes to work with win10 and oculus runtimes. Does anyone know a fix to my problem??

Elite only works with .5.0.1 beta. Windows 10 only works with .7 onwards. I was in the same place and reverted back to Winows 8.1 (You can upgrade 81. to 10 and it might still work - I'll be testing this soon as I need the DPI scaling features in Windows 10 more than I need the DK2 working right now)

i am really hoping this is fixed come black friday.

I am looking to upgrade my pc then, and on one hand i am not playing ED without VR

on the other hand, I cant face installing windows 7 or 8 just for a few months and then installing windows 10 (I am a "clean" install kind of guy, installing a new OS on top of an old one just feels to me like putting on fresh clean boxer shorts after an hr stint in the gym..... no point putting clean pants on top of a sweaty sack, its good to have a clean install now and then ;)

It Works great now with the new nvidia driver 355.98 and SDK 5.0.1.. (Win10_64) Havent tried with the 6.0.1 yet

I am using nvidia v350.12 and oc drvrs v0.6.0.1. Elite works but bad judder/stutter in resource extraction areas, even with low graphics (using strix GTX970).
Are judder/stutter issues gone in resource extraction areas with v355.98?
Have you tried with oc drvs 0.6.0.1 yet?

you should check out Star Citizen over the next year or so, if they can do pre-alpha they will easily be able to nail post-beta beta

Star Citizen is embroiled in controversy and has yet to ship anything besides a ship viewer tool and a dog fight demo. I'd suggest calmly watching and waiting for the next year on that one, but use the ten foot pole rule. Star Citizen is using the CryEngine that already has some Oculus support, from what I hear.

Only on approach and very brief. Once out of supercruise I have no problems with judder at all, all settings maxxed with DSR at 2x

Actually I no longer seem to have bad judder anymore, except in SC. Maybe some recent patch fixed something I don't know I have no other explanation.

LoL ! First year law student or wannabe bush lawyer. Like every other Rift user, I would love Frontier to update the sdk and maybe they will, if and when resource allocation/priorities permit. But to post such a pathetic, passive aggressive diatribe is actually self defeating, and makes you look stupid ! Sorry not even a point for effort, huge thumbs down. Study harder and get some miles on the clock with law before next attempt.

Thank you for your misdirected opinion. I possess an LLB, LLM with +8 PQE and have been published in the areas of IP, copyright and consumer law.
Perhaps if you researched a little further into consumer law and practice, instead of directing ill-conceived missives at forum members who are merely expressing what is a perfectly valid point, you wouldn't come across as such an ignoramus.

For all of you having trouble with W10 and Elite, I just managed to get it to work after a downgrade. I followed these steps(http://www.vrbites.com/tech-howto/run-oculus-0-6-0-1-in-windows-10/) and it worked for me. I installed 356.04 nvidia drivers and oculus runtime 0.5.0. Make sure you uninstall any runtime after removing the driver(step 1)

Hope it helps somebody :)

Yep followed the same .. finally got my windows 10 working with elite and oculus.... Now waiting for Horizons....lol

Same. Nvidia 970m with all settings low and DSR1x and oculus quality down 1 mark. Everwhere 75 fps except in supercruise 40 fps and stations 65 fps.
