Oculus Rift second window (useful for twitchers & youtubers)

Yesss, managed but had to set the window to 640x720, in 960x1080 i was getting to much judder.
Once video is ready I will link it. just normal cruising :-D

Does this lower the FPS in the Rift? Or is it just a "copy" of the Rift-View?

I tried the first time with a window of 960x1080 and it was jumping through frames, then lowered to 640x720, performance got better until the jumping disappeared.
Maybe my system was processing something.
It should be the Copy of one eye without distorsion, but I think it's discussed somewhere in the topic.

I have an i7 4770K 16gigs of ram and two GTX 780s in SLI and I have to disable SLI to get this to work properly. Also, it adds a little bit of judder when enabled (an annoying but bearable amount of judder).

SLI force alternate frame rendering 2 (FAFR 2) with mirroring disabled: buttery smooth head tracking with zero judder even in docks. I have experienced judder near asteroid fields though.
SLI FAFR 1 with mirroring enabled: it works but judder is unbearable
SLI FAFR 2 with mirroring enabled: judder is bad (not as bad as with FAFR1) and major artifacts (missing sky box

SLI disabled and mirroring on: experience judder in station have to look away from station when outside of station to get the buttery smooth head tracking experience. An awesome trick but I wish SLI was better supported. Nvidia needs to hurry up and release VR SLI already (and support older cards with it).

I use SLi myself, yet don't have to disable it in order to get this to work - just out of curiosity - what are your ED profiles profiles Vsync settings?

Strange behaviour.

When second screen enabled, game seems to get stuck on loading screen (spinning ship), then goes black, then nothing.

I just gave it another try , in tutorial. Then the ship disappears, but text stays, I can see oculus still tracks .

Then I alt tab and close additional window.. and voila, I am in tutorial on rift.

Running 2x660Ti on SLI, firmware 2.12, SDK 0.4.3

This should be an available option when the Rift launches ;) I had one of my non-gamer buddies play around in E: D, in solo mode.. and he somehow went into silent running mode and blew up my ship and all of my cargo, lol. I should have let him play a tutorial, I know!

Anyways, this is a good feature to implement! I'll give it a go when I get home.

I've been having this same issue as well. The way I got around it is to turn off the Oculus Rift (hard button) and then turn it back on after the second window loads up. It seems as though something is out of sync between the OR and monitor that is preventing it from loading. Though I have to sometimes readjust the resolution again for the OR to display properly.

Not sure if anyone else is getting this - just installed gamma 1.01 and using the oculus rift I am missing textures or lighting in the right eye - see attached image. (btw, this was working perfect in beta - using a gigabyte R9 270x oc)

ps. I am not even sure this is the appropriate place to be posting this, but the support pages said "as the oculus rift isn't actually supported hardware, nick off!" or to that effect.

Yep. It seems that Gama 1.01 has introduced a bug in the OR output.

I am now eagerly awaiting 1.02 which will fix it. I am sure that it will be coming out "soon"!

Hmm. It works.

That is sometimes it works flawlessly and sometimes screen gets stuck on main monitor and full restart is required.

Been twitching with the additional screen for around a month now, it's very cool. And with no apparent lag either.

My viewers really get involved, helping me out along the way :)

Yeah same with me, I just really hope that options show up when switched to rift mode so we can turn this on as a full feature instead of having to go in and edit settings in the config file

One thing to bear in mind is that this is just taking the left eye image, so you'll want to set the resolution appropriately. E.g. if the OR is set to 1920x1080, then the left eye image will be 960x1080 (i.e. half the width). If you make it bigger or smaller than that, just be sure to keep that same aspect ratio for the best effect. If you have the window size set to 1920x1080 (thinking you'll get full HD) then it'll all be stretched horizontally, which is what I think you're seeing in this video -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOdMgNQuoKc.

On my rig, the two windows are named "Elite - Dangerous (CLIENT)' for the Rift output display and 'Elite - Dangerous' for the mirror output display. Would it be possible to get the window title on the mirror display set to something like 'Elite - Dangerous (MIRROR)'? I have to re-layout my capture and stream every game load, because the 'Elite - Dangerous' grab ends up grabbing the (CLIENT) window first (partial name match because it's the first window that loads up). It's a tiny issue, can live with it as is, but... doesn't hurt to ask?
