I have an i7 4770K 16gigs of ram and two GTX 780s in SLI and I have to disable SLI to get this to work properly. Also, it adds a little bit of judder when enabled (an annoying but bearable amount of judder).
SLI force alternate frame rendering 2 (FAFR 2) with mirroring disabled: buttery smooth head tracking with zero judder even in docks. I have experienced judder near asteroid fields though.
SLI FAFR 1 with mirroring enabled: it works but judder is unbearable
SLI FAFR 2 with mirroring enabled: judder is bad (not as bad as with FAFR1) and major artifacts (missing sky box
SLI disabled and mirroring on: experience judder in station have to look away from station when outside of station to get the buttery smooth head tracking experience. An awesome trick but I wish SLI was better supported. Nvidia needs to hurry up and release VR SLI already (and support older cards with it).
Has anyone gotten this to work in Beta 3? Worked fine previously, but since beta 3 I just get black screens.
Strange behaviour.
When second screen enabled, game seems to get stuck on loading screen (spinning ship), then goes black, then nothing.
I just gave it another try , in tutorial. Then the ship disappears, but text stays, I can see oculus still tracks .
Then I alt tab and close additional window.. and voila, I am in tutorial on rift.
Running 2x660Ti on SLI, firmware 2.12, SDK 0.4.3
I am now eagerly awaiting 1.02 which will fix it.
I've been having this same issue as well. The way I got around it is to turn off the Oculus Rift (hard button) and then turn it back on after the second window loads up. It seems as though something is out of sync between the OR and monitor that is preventing it from loading. Though I have to sometimes readjust the resolution again for the OR to display properly.
Have you been told this by FD, or are you guessing....?
Been twitching with the additional screen for around a month now, it's very cool. And with no apparent lag either.
My viewers really get involved, helping me out along the way![]()
How are you following twitch chat while wearing the rift? Super curious...Been twitching with the additional screen for around a month now, it's very cool. And with no apparent lag either.

One thing to bear in mind is that this is just taking the left eye image, so you'll want to set the resolution appropriately. E.g. if the OR is set to 1920x1080, then the left eye image will be 960x1080 (i.e. half the width). If you make it bigger or smaller than that, just be sure to keep that same aspect ratio for the best effect. If you have the window size set to 1920x1080 (thinking you'll get full HD) then it'll all be stretched horizontally, which is what I think you're seeing in this video -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOdMgNQuoKc.
