Odessys UI...... Come on now!

Is it just me!? Just to start I know horizons UI did need a little polish I'll admit....but I finally caved an bought the oddity DLC and at first I was super excited to be running around with my new legs an gasping at the sheer size of my krait!! Like holy hell that's one big pony!! But after such marvels I started playing again an almost strait away got a sick feeling whilst navigating or should I say motion sickness navigating the new UI, its is needlessly complicated to do simple tasks! Everything is icons and or is needlessly complicated to do where it wasn't before,it literally took my a few minutes to to figure out the outfitting menus which tbh I have no idea how they got the go ahead to be rolled out!!! I don't like to complain but damn it frontier! Galaxy map is also madness! Obs there are a few positives there but the fact is I don't want horizons UI completely overwritten with this has got to be echoed by the player community!

I've been playing Odyssey so long, I cannot even remember what the Horizons UI was like. I have very little issue with it apart from one minor thing that seems to have arrived with Update 13 with the Connector Lines in the Map UI. You switch them off and then next session they're switched back on again. It never used to do this.

The real frustration is when it sinks in that younhave to actually sit in your ship to make any changes to it despite there being a ship store in most lounges.

Are you referring to Inter Astra on the station concourses?

Which changes in particular are you talking about?

I’m in the camp of not being able to remember Horizons UI. Give it time and it’s all ok.

Regards Inter Astra, they are a shop selling ships who also offer to pick your ships up and bring them to the station for you - as long as you pay. They are not a module shop though. I would like to see modules at the Pioneer shops and I would also like a Cartographer at the Vista Genomics store.

I much prefer the odyssey UI. The horizons one was just annoying.

I miss the ability to click buttons via HOTAS or mouse. Some work, others don't. Otherwise, the Odyssey UI is great once you get accustomed to it.

O7,
🙃

Correct - you can't do anythign with outfitting unless you're sitting in your ship. In general those rules hold true across both "games" - you can't do Odyssey stuff unless you are on foot in a lounge area (such as taking missions, buying suits and weapons) - and on foot you can't do some ship things like take ship based missions from terminals or buy components for your ship despite there being a ship store. That sort of disconnect between the two games makes each side feel a bit smaller imo, and can only hope that with the renewed focus on the PC platform we can start to see some of those barriers come down.

And now the console acclimatisation posts begin :) Hopefully they'll get the EDH4.0 update out soon so they can all merge together into one long scream of newness :D
Yeah now that I've moved to a controller/keyboard combo, I now know WHY they designed the new UI this way, it's easier to navigate with a controller. BUT worse every other other way. :D
