Odysee is unplayable, isnt it?

It's "playable" for me

but

it sure ain't enjoyable

Just the extra time it takes plowing through menus and the map slows the pace of everything down too much.

And that's with the things that are working.

On second thought...

After 2 days of playing around in Oddity - I just switched back to Horizons

It's incredibly astounding to switch back and see how much better the Horizons experience is.

As I've stated before, I'm a pilot - not a grunt. In space the difference in graphics quality from Oddity to Horizons just isn't a big deal and not worth the FPS hit and 100% load on GPU vs 60%

And the Mission menus! Yikes - Oddity is appalling compared to Horizons.

Sorry FD - I'm done beta testing your latest junk pile. I'll not be back until it's forced upon me in a few months when hopefully you'll realize what a mess you've made of what's still enjoyable in Horizons.

But I have full confidence that you'll double down and force everyone into Oddity and we'll be left talking about the good ol' days...

Mission/Passenger menus/layout - Galaxy and system map use - TOTAL FAIL compared to Horizons

and after one visit to a station on foot I'm convinced that my original hunch was correct - just another new "feature" I won't be engaged with...

So here we are 7 years after 1.0 released and 2 years since the last big "upgrade" and still you have to understand directories and sub-directories and know how to edit the bindings start folder in order to go from Oddity to Horizons.

Not time to fix something that has plagued ED since it first launched but plenty of time to waste on your biggest failure so far

Congratulations

And now I can line up in SC on the docking bay again and when I leave a station the red and green light are back (and yes- I know how to identify the exit lane without them, thank you.)

See ya'll back in Oddity when the console boys arrive...

I would remind frontier of the mess that was once a working module tab in game\in ship
remember those details
and see the problem I have with no re-arm..
my ship has rails(hammers)
in advanced maintenance they do NOT EXIST.(horizons)
bring back any memories yet?
ages ago in another awful game breaking release we had an issue with the modules tab that also did this EXACT same thing NO RE-ARM because the game never knew what modules you had. and if you entered another ship, you now had 2 sets of modules that you could not work with.....

the garbage code that messed it up got bypassed to a routine that forces the correct loadout to display. but we both know the code is still there and still active.
but tbh I don't think that is causing it this time. looks more like just a real bad job of setting access to certain routines for the ability to access odyssey.
and from my perspective, a person with several horizons accounts and 1 odyssey account.
the code is not right for my setup, even on separate computers though, it still won't let any of my horizons accounts re-arm.

oddly that entering odyssey re-arms automatically, so then in my 1 odyssey account I can re-arm. but even in odyssey the hammers do not exist in advanced maintenance.

hopefully this clue to some crap code that caused this issue BEFORE and did not get fixed will help you figure this out so that I can PLAY sometime soon again......

you guys need to make better notes and easier to find.

My first impressions of visiting an atmospheric world wowed me. I had to set graphics from ultra to medium but that's progress I guess, but what I don't understand is why they've made the galaxy map so over complicated. Aren't upgrades supposed to simplify the process and aid the user? It has gone from click and select to a terrible menu system. There's no way to know if you've previously visited a system or not and you can't delete bookmarks like before, you have to go into a menu and either type the system of interest or scroll through and located it which then open another menu and while you're doing this you're also interacting with the galaxy map simultaneously, what!

I'm so disappointed with odyssey and I feel let down by al the YouTube creators who mentioned nothing of this.
The menu system is needlessly overcomplicated and I suspect it's been designed that way as a time sink. Everything about this game is a time sink.
Conversations in FD development boardroom must center around the idea of how to squeeze more seconds, minutes and hours out of each player.

I'm gutted.

Unfortunately, for me it’s literally unplayable. At least the on-foot part, which is the hole selling point of ‘Odyssey‘.

The fps are too low to play the game in VR, which is a shame as I feel, this is how the game is supposed to be played. (And I don’t even mention the visual downgrades in VR of which I’ve only read here in the forum, as I can’t play in VR.)

However, I also can not play on my flatscreen monitor. It’s a 4:3 screen monitor and apparently, the graphics team decided, that this aspect ratio isn’t worth supporting. In consequence, the radar screen as well as the side wheel and the power information bars are simply cut off and (half of them) invisible. The radar part is inconvenient. The wheel is basically unusable. Crucial commander information is missing completely.

I (and one other person) created a thread already, but it quickly disappeared from page one.
Please don’t tell me to buy a new monitor just to play EDO! The monitor is of very high quality, was expensive and I actually like the aspect ratio.
I spent a lot of money solely for ED already (Oculus Rift, HOTAS, Crosswind pedals). I don’t want to buy a new monitor just to be able to play in a visual game mode I don’t want to play in in the first place!

Furthermore, adjusting the screen elements to the monitor’s aspect ratio doesn’t seem to be a fundamental problem in ED: It’s been done just fine for the ship’s HUD. Why not for the HUD in on-foot gameplay?

Sorry, I’ve never ever said this in a gaming forum, because I usually find this offensive to the programmers. But here, I am afraid, I have to say it: This is just sloppy coding!

Currently, I am very disappointed! :(

All I get with Odyssey is an orange sidewinder. I purchased Odyssey for my 1st account and now cannot connect at all on it. Every time in any mode i get the "Connection Error, Orange Sidewinder". My second account which I run from the same computer and same installation runs just as it always has. I've filed a report and have tried to get this resolved. But I have heard nothing from FD. This is the first time I've ever been locked out of a game for this long. I knew there would be bugs to fix with this release. But GD, who would of thought they would screw it up this bad. No mans sky was a hit compared to this fiasco.

It’s mostly playable for me but frustrating as hell because of the bugs, glitches, awful lighting, poor performance, bad AI, terrible C&P mechanics and horrible UI.

And the worst part? Most of these things were reported during alpha and nothing has been done to fix them.

I am frustrated and disappointed with Odyssey.

Yep, unplayable for me. Going to go back to Horizons and do some exploration before they break it by "upgrading" the graphics engine to this travesty.

Mission/Passenger menus/layout - Galaxy and system map use - TOTAL FAIL compared to Horizons
...and bookmarks!
Delete bookmark is so long click-quest -- no more use as waypoints for it. Faster to write down on paper.
Categorized as station/planet/star ...really? I can't imagine single use case for this knowledge. But now, If I want find my "tovisit" - must check each category + more clicks.
Carrier is set as "star" so no more fast 3 clicks routes carrier <--> station.

It's quite playable for me, usually. There are odd hitches that give me high SPF (no typo there, read carefully), but in general I get at least 20fps even on foot, which is playable, though not pleasant.

gal/sys map changes: neutral. The new system could do with some improvements, but isn't too bad.
Haven't done much with outfitting yet, so no comment.
Overall, I like it and will not return to Horizons (other than to get my srv out of a crash loop or similar)
