Odyssey ganking and rebuy screen?

Unless Frontier change things for Odyssey, I think I can state with complete confidence that there will not be gankers etc. in this CMDR's galaxy. 🤷‍♂️

Make sure you have enough 1up's
Messing around with higher levels.
Or press; up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right B, A, start!? 30 extra lives will be granted...at least it works in "contra"

I’m hoping the respawn mechanic explanation is left as “it’s just a game” but if they do feel like lore-ifying it up then they go for the Altered Carbon needlecast consciousness download into a fresh “sleeve” - our suits having a one-shot transmission burst facility built in.

Financial penalty (re-buy) being the cost of the fresh clone body.

I think Star Citizen does something similar. Not sure, think I heard that though. I wouldn't mind that but...

Seems more Elite's style to handle it minimalistically by having you just "wake up" somewhere. You were "injured" and have been "recovered" to your ship. Handwave the logistics. Meanwhile, everyone else sees your crumpled body ragdolling around in a hail of lead.

It's just a game, as you say, and the more excess exposition they put into explaining how you die and come back, the deeper people will dig to find logical issues with it and still be unhappy. Death in games is one of those things you have to be mentally flexible and able to blind your critical eye to.

Like with SRV destruction and ship "ejection".

One of the stories included with the Frontier First Encounters game featured something similar, though it was rebuilding bodies from their own remains.

sooooo basically capsuleers from eve online?

I’ve never played EVE so I can’t comment. I have read all Richard Morgan’s books though and I’ve always thought it’d make a good match with ED since it came out, regarding Cmdr death.

Doesn’t EVE have “podding” to mess with players, or is that something different?

from the story perspective "capsuleers" are people whom have proper implants to interfacte with a ship from within capsule, but also scan down the brain, kills the capsuleer and sent the scan result through some tachnobauble to proper cloning facility that downloads the how they call it "infomorph" into fresh new clone of that person.

When ship in eve is blown up, player is ejected into the capsule, and when that one is destroyed it's a proper "death of that clone of a player and player "respawns" in a fresh new clone in the facility where he had chosen his medical clone to be.

"podding" is just the act of killing the capsule, which is often refered to as a "pod"
