Just a few more thoughts...
1. Cant instance with others outside of Oceania
2. Desyncs and crashes
3. Grind grind and more grind
4. FPS as everyone know sucks balls.
5. Frontier staff need to wake up and realise its not hate to say your game is lame

Let's just say that if Frontier Developments are to regain any shred of respect, it will take action in a whole new direction for the company, not just empty words and (including this one) three carefully worded (to avoid liability) non-apologies. It would probably need replacing parts of their staff who are far too set in their ways to be retrained for advanced new concept like "telling the truth" and "factual comparisons isn't hate speech". The efforts I've seen so far points in the entirely opposite direction of trying to regain respect, and more like trying to silence dissent. As D2EA pointed out, so far the numbers indicate you can still get players back IF you fix things. But. Alienating them by the sheer arrogance displayed on your supercruise news will cost you far more than your botched release did. It will cost you any chance of regaining the respect, because those you have alienated will have moved on and turned their backs on you. No matter what you do, they will not see it. Nor will any of them ever touch any product from you again, because they will ASSUME it's as bad as this one currently is (Even after more than a month of fixing stuff that NEVER should have made release!), no matter how great it is. The credibility you are burning, is LITERALLY the sales of any future product, unless you intend to stick to children's games. But even then you should remember that it's the parents that are paying for those games. Remember how we all laughed at the scene in "The Naked Gun" with the police officer shouting "nothing to see here" through his bullhorn to those looking at the corpse in the water? That's exactly how the people praising fdev now look. The rest of us aren't laughing. We're sad.

whos D2EA?

Down to earth astronomy. One of the Twitch/youtube content creators who have been VERY HELPFUL towards making educational material for Elite Dangerous, and have been EXTREMELY positive towards Elite Dangerous, without ever becoming the kind of insufferable white knight some of the content creators have been. Most of the "toe-the-party-line" forum members were singing his praises until he dared the sacrilege of stating that the emperor was infact wearing nothing. Also known that not only was Odyssey a buggy mess, it also didn't actually have any content. Then, all of a sudden, the people who had been singing his praises, started saying he was a content creator who wanted to "create strife and drama" to increase his income (those U-turns are why I worry about the mental health of some of the forum members. They are behaving more like cult members than game players).

Never heard of him

Hi David,

Thank you very much for coming on here and posting your thoughts.

I for one really appreciate the efforts of the Development Team and everyone at FD to fix issues with EDO and improve the game.

I have not played any EDO specific content as I am far away from Civilisation at the moment, but things have definitely improved in the last few updates for me, with regard to lighting and the system maps issues.

I play in VR so I am really pleased that the Surface Scanner bug has been fixed.

I was disappointed by the decision to not develop VR for On Foot play, but I do understand the rationale as I feel FD should fix the issues first that make the game unplayable or frustrating for many players, before doing other things.

Please keep on releasing updates and fixing issues.

Thank you.

PS Please keep up with the new more open communications strategy, it is a big improvement on the blanket secrecy that we used to have to put up with.

I thought the Updates are every 2 weeks and Update 6 should have been released now? Has the release timing changed or due shortly?

D2EA has a "day job" (I know this because he said he had taken a couple of days off work for the launch of Odyssey) therefore he does not depend on following the trend to keep his viewing figures (and income) high. Other channels had to jump straight on the salt train to ensure they could still earn a living from their videos (the only kind of ED getting watched these days) but D2EA gives his honest opinion, so when he started criticising the DLC it was beyond clear all was not well with it.

That's great news, please point link to timing for Update 6. I cannot find it.
I think there's been a misunderstanding of what @Vallysa said.

No date has been given for update 6. For all we know it could be November/December (when the console versions were originally going to drop).

We also have no idea what is going to be in update 6 but it will presumably be "improvements and bugfixes".

You have to admit, negativity is quite easy right now. I mean, negativity has always been easy, but right now, the negative posts practically write themselves.
I have some hope they will pull this together given time. We will see.

My point, which you evaded, is that the self-righteous "everything is great" crowd has been perfectly ok with the content creators, as long as they stayed true to preaching how great everything is. The moment any of them criticised ANYTHING they started screeching like criticising Frontier Developments was an act of blasphemy. Every. Single. Time. It's time for even the most pious Elite Dangerous fan to stop treating criticism of Odyssey like it was apostasy.
