The stream was largely well received, also in the chat, on twitter and Reddit. More SRV, FC interiors and emotes were all things heavily requested by many.
But of course the usual folks in DD are complaining. I doubt FD even considers this forum meaningful to measure the 'community temperature', the complaining seems wholly static and regardless of the state of the game over the years.
Other platforms give a far better view on how people who actually play the game feel, as opposed to a gathering of people who often left the game years ago but just hang around like Statler & Waldorf.
I saw lots of questions about consoles on the twitch stream's chat, for what it's worth, so that's consistent across all channels.
They also mostly went ignored.
I agree entirely... If one feels so badly about a game or one of its updates they really should consider just saying "NO!" and removing the source of their ire from their lives, that makes perfect sense.
The reason no other space sims exist is because creating space sims is hard. A few bugs and the occasional framerate drop isn't "trash bin water". Both of those things will eventually be fixed (like it always is) and Elite will continue to be the only space sim of its kind for another decade.
Sorry to burst your bubble but, yes, you are going to accept whatever they feed you. Or you're going to uninstall the game, logout of these forums, and do something else. When there's no competition that's what the world looks like. I for one appreciate that Elite even exists and I'm thankful that they're working so hard on the game. I definitely am not going to get caught up in a fantasy world of my perfect space game and expect FDev to just magically delivery it all.

That's quite the analogy ... but yeah, I feel completely apathetic about Odyssey too. It's launch killed my enthusiasm for the game and I don't think any amount of patching is going to recover it now. I think my main issue is the new planet gen ... I just don't believe in the reality of these planets and see little reason to be explore them. Realistically I don't see Frontier admitting defeat (or even recognisng the problem) and re-baking the planets with new tech so it is what it is and I think we're stuck with it. The love affair is over ... we're still friends tho.

Do you honestly believe you can solve any potential problem by shouting "doom" or is it just a way of avoiding thinking about reality as a whole? What is it that you want to achieve with a post like that? Being funny? Keeping optimism alive? Support Fdev? Something else?
I'm asking seriously, because I do not know your answers. Thanks in advance.

Regarding the game, it does become more and more "Comical Ali" when people try and deny problems and their potential consequences. I decided to take a break and wait for updates and fixes, so when I saw the U7 had arrived, I tried that. It still "just a beta". When Fdev claim that they now have navmesh "fixed", I could ask why they released Odd without having that in place?
I have no interest in seeing the game die. I like playing it. However, at the given "state of the game", it's not playable for me, unless I lower resolution considerably. All the rest of the settings don't change fps a lot. It's not my hardware, so the arrow points in one direction, optimization. Probably something doesn't "multitask" well enough. I know there were many other issues with Odd, but the lousy fps was the main problem most people had. Until that is fixed, and it's not fixed five months after release, the game is slowly dying. That's sad, and it's got nothing to do with "doom".
You should compare those 2. Both do fake surfaces with fake content on it.
While Ody tries to draw scientific accurate one, so it takes a lot of more processing power + it is something new and never done till now.

I think it's mostly about the prevalence of the color orange in Elite. Everyone knows orange requires a lot of processing power.
