It could be worse, the SC fans could be here....Yet NMS gets all the praise, ED gets all the flak here.
... or, perhaps they already are?
It could be worse, the SC fans could be here....Yet NMS gets all the praise, ED gets all the flak here.
Yeah. Those South Carolina fans can be hard to deal with.the SC fans could be here....
I forgot about those. But even the hardcore SC fans have a hard time showering the game with praise when descending a flight of stairs can kill you.
You missed it utterly. The part of the video you mention talks about what inspired the phrase spoken by Neil Armstrong when he set foot on the Moon. Then the difficulties of dealing with the 'superstar' status he acquired on his return to Earth and his regrets at not being able to spend the time he would have liked with his family because of his work.
Nowhere do they talk about what the phrase "Armstrong moment" means to Neil Armstrong. Not even that his first step on the Moon was the greatest moment of his life (but even without saying so explicitly, i'm pretty sure it was).
That actually happened in North Carolina, not South Carolina. Durham, North Carolina to be exact.Hang on are we still talking about South Carolina, because that's totally a thing there! They made an entire miniseries about it!

Well... i just can give a personnal opinion. And it's just i don't care about this game. It could die that it would touch one of mine without making the other move.I wasn't going to name it because I thought it would be clear enough... but okay. I was referring to No Man's Sky. There is a certain part (and, again, ex-part) of the community that regards this as be be-all-end-all best space game ever (I might exaggerate for effect). Yet it has alot of similar blunders to ED yet gets none of the flak Odyssey gets for it. The fade to black transition is only one example; yes, it has this silly little "getting up" animation when you disembark, but personally I found that even more annoying.
There does not seem to be a separate word (disembarkation maybe ?). But yeah, the act of landing is pretty good (even if the graphic quality have been lowered since the launch).Getting out of the ship isn't the "act of landing".
It's not only about how it's important. Making a predifined animation with the game engine should be pretty trivial. And FDev didn't even bother to make this small effort. Not so spectacular, and unimportant in comparison for me; way overblown criticism in my opinion.
Euh... we're talking about some predifined animations using the engine. At worst, that may require to modelise a small airlock for ships. If it's such an issue for FDev, i don't see what we can hope for the futur of the game.why should FDEV waste a lot of time developing something
If 0.0001% of players base would represent 1 player, this means that 1,000,000 copies of the game would have been sold. Pretty good success thanks to this landing animationthat will be viewed maybe a couple of times by 99.9999% of players and then never looked at again
Because it's not always the most used feature that sells ? The on-foot feature in EDO is a great exemple. Widely used but far from bringing the sales one might have hoped for.then never looked at again when they could put this effort into something players will actually use
2-3 times. But there are some areas of improvement that could be made to make it much more incentive to activate or even useful. Like giving the possibility to skip the procedure (like a rogue key that validates all procedures at the same time and faster) or to cancel the take-off request. Or to be able to do the procedure while the lift is going up. In short, the problem is not the procedure itself, it's that the way FDev has implemented it is really not great. So i would say that FDev should spend a bit more time on the power up procedure to make it not annoying, better and usefull.with the example of the ship power up procedure as a demonstration of this behaviour, how many times have you done that process? 1 times, 0 times? Honest answer please. That exists as an optional activity, do you ever do it? Now that was wasted dev time, why wouldn't this also be wasted dev time?
So, the Armstrong moment is actually... having a child?I would guess you aren't a parent, His greatest moment would have been the birth of his daughter.
No, just that i'm not an english speaker. You missed it utterly.
I would guess you aren't a parent,
Thx for the explanation, much appreciateHis greatest moment would have been the birth of his daughter. His regret is not spending time with her while she was alive.
That you think his greatest moment was stepping off a ladder speaks volumes. That was important to the people who worked towards that moment.
Another member of the Apollo missions (8 if I remember correctly) spoke of all the effort of getting out to the Moon, then looking back and realising that everything he actually cared about was on the blue sphere on the Horizon.
Haha, good one, you got me with the Monopoly guyThis does not prevent many of them from remembering that the Monopoly guy wears a monocle.
As the Astronaut from Apollo 8 said; He looked at the Earth and realised all he cared about was there. So, the Armstrong moment is actually... having a child?
How do you do that in Elite?!
To me, Armstrong's regret to have miss out with his personal life is a beautiful metaphor of the ship pilots missing out with on-foot PvP while arguing about ship interiors. Just kidding...Armstrong's regret
That's a pretty fair break-down of on-foot CZ in the overall
Also I highly recommend you to try CZ in PvP against another Cmdr. It's really where it shines and the NPCs become much more of a danger![]()
Euh... we're talking about some predifined animations using the engine. At worst, that may require to modelise a small airlock for ships. If it's such an issue for FDev, i don't see what we can hope for the futur of the game.
Oh great to hear that you also went PvP, not that many people have been there, heheI have, my big issue with fighting players in CZ, is the best PVP weapons are the lasers, because People have a lot more mobility at their disposal so the hitscan is invaluable, it's simply better to use all your Aphelion ammo to get a kill, rather than waste all your L6 or Intimidator for nothing. But that basically means you go twin lasers and maybe the Karma pistol. My PVP loadout is a Scoped long range Headshot Aphelion and a High Cap auto-reload Eclipse. Very deadly combo in PVP and it is fun, but it also means the profitability of CZ takes a nose dive because you spend basically all your time hunting the other player, rather than racking up kills.
Btw, Armstrong's biggest regret was to have picked the Manticore Oppressor...
Much appreciated! I was just lucky to be around last year when it was the golden age of on-foot combat CGs. Cannot wait that they come back.PS @Ryox those are awesome PVP videos!
EDO is more stable that it's ever been but I still occasionally get crashes.
