Odyssey still very dark

I opened an issue on fdev site for this ... There was another opened during alpha but marked as expired. Feel free to add your experiences to it, I hope they do something about it: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/31324
Cheers! Added my bit. I can live with bugs at launch of new content and am generally patient with such and if I find things don't work, go do something else. But this is practically unplayable; its not like I can go do something else fun in-game while I wait for [issue with X] to be resolved. The bug here is the entire presentation. The issues raised about this during alpha haven't been addressed whatsoever.

I've stuck my $0.02 in there too.

Aside from the overall blackness of space I noticed it most on the HUD, which is more muted, and on the outfit customisations for the default flight suit. The latter is particularly galling as I paid good money (pre-Arx) for both the Scoundrel and Turncoat packs just to get the right combination of torso and arms for an orange jacket. It's closer to red now, and the blue pants look like black biking leathers.

I was aware of this in the alpha but didn't bother reporting it after I saw so many other reports and conversations on the subject. When it became clear that FD intended to fix a bunch of stuff at release rather than wasting time pushing out a series of late-stage alpha patches, I figured this one would be a no-brainer. 😢

In VR the exact opposite is true. The contrasts are stupidly harsh and ANYTHING that is well-lit is almost completely washed out. Don't EVEN go by an ice planet. The visuals in Odyssey while in VR make the game disgusting and unplayable. In addition to all the VR aspects that are broken.

My screen is completely over bright even with the gamma slider at it's lowest

Unplayable at the moment for me

I'm not noticing much improvement from the Alpha. I still have the Gamma slider all the way to the right, with the ship dark and the elevator in the station almost painfully bright.

Is this consistent with what everyone else is seeing, or is there another config option I'm missing?
My slider is all the way to the left and while I like it dark in space, with nebulas barely visible, It's still too bright in stations, both where the landing pads are an at the concourse. Looks strangely washed out to me.

The colour grading is completely wrong, the blue circle of the radar orient dot is now a green circle and dot. HUD is either blurry and overbright or muted to the point of unreadable. Bravo FD.

I know it works great in Horizons you Old Duck.
My question was if you tried it in Odyssey yet. :ROFLMAO:
I just wanted to reassure you that Frontier didn't break Horizons by mucking with shaders.

As for Odyssey, I'll try it when it goes on sale. Ironically I'd love to get my hands on Odyssey, knowing it's a broken mess, just to "experiment with". Perhaps I could find shader(s) causing some of the performance hits, tweak the lighting, etc. But I'm not paying $40 to tinker with shaders, LOL.

NEWS FLASH: Space is DARK.

I can't be the only one that likes the dark/gritty atmosphere that gives the game more visual character now.

I certainly hope they don't change it base on forum complaints.

If you want brightness and colours I would suggest trying No Man's Sky.
