ANNOUNCEMENT Odyssey Update 2021

this happens when you break the space-time continuum and bring the Odyssey clean from bugs from the future...

Unable to play for more than 10 minutes without getting a disconnect.
Trying to disembark a ship or SRV causes a disconnect every time.

There is quite obviously no QA. Seems that with the current state of the game, us VR heads are better off playing SC with VorpX.
With VR i prefer to use with ED instead EDO. I'm waiting improvements/fixes for EDO / VR to play in VR. I'm pretty confident that these improvement/fixes will be released after the launch of EDO for console. Question of financial aspect.
So, i'm good with ED in VR and i can waiting without any frustration.

Hopefully you are right, but I think it would be prudent for someone from Frontier to actually comment on all the negative performance experiences. Their silence does not indicate they are working on it, it rather implies they are quite happy with the release so far. How are we supposed to assume they are aware and acknowledge the performance issue, if they make no comment at all?

They have repeatedly acknowledged it on all their platforms and have said they will continue working on improvements at least until console launch.

The question is whether we get one or more additional patches until then, or if we have to wait months for it.

I work in the software industry (not in video game ). We work on some projects with a some required features and therefore develop them. We need to organize our development as our team size is constant (we have many open positions but not enough candidates). This means that we have to make choices on all the promised and required features for all these projects.
We are in the maelstrom due to no respect the delay and respect our roadmaps and its many dependencies that require us to do the job in a mandatory direction to maintains our software architecture without add some breachs or any breaking change.
In other words, to balance our development requirements with our customers' roadmap.

ps: FD takes the way to PC now and it is more clear now: the only way to recover the success will be with the core PC players.

I am heavily dissatisfied with the decisions going on at frontier. I've put nearly 4000 hours into this game on console, and was expecting oddessy to be released as an alpha on console, then released along side PC in the beginning. Shutting console out like this, and focusing only on pc is hurting a good portion of players who just want to enjoy elite, but can't. Console players need attention too. If anything, the beta program that the fleet carrier update used would be enough for players to be willing to give plenty of feedback on console and speed up how things are going. I understand the stressful situation, and I appreciate the work y'all are doing, but please try to understand how console players have been with just watching and waiting without any way of expressing the way they feel about this.

If they could release it on console they absolutely would. But the technical problems on pc are fundamental atm and would not only get carried over to consoles but magnify the problems even further there. I guess Odyssey is just not ready to get released on consoles till the technical issues are under control. You're not missing out atm, it just gets delayed due to technical difficulties.

Out of curiosity with the announced delay of console (I get it and not complaining.... If it hits sub 20fps on a decent pc it is gonna be single digits on vanilla Xbox 1 so that HAS to be fixed). But has there been any update on ED:O players being reunited with ED:H players on PC?
I have ED:O as I bought it as part of my LTP however any mates I have still playing are not going near it yet. It would be nice if I could play on ED:O but still see then when we have matching content.

Quite honestly, if I were a console player I'd be breathing a sigh of relief if they are actually making an attempt at a viable product for you guys prior to release. There's also the fact that console manufacturers have a quality standard for release the EDO most certainly cannot meet in its current state. Let the PC players suffer through the paid beta and the console players can enjoy the game when it they've sprayed enough turd polish on it.

I understand that I'm.not really missing out on anything, but the fact that there is something new after how many years of small changes it's kind of just kicking dirt in the faces of console players who were expecting a new gameplay loop along side PC. Console always gets the short end of the stick, and Elite wasn't doing that to us for the longest time.

And pc players are complaining that they are beta testers for console players nowadays. If you get the impression that console players aren't important or less important compared to pc players I think you are wrong here. I think that console sales are actually really, really important for FD.
I'd rather have an at least technically working product than something that is unplayable broken (Cyberpunk...). That first footfall nameplating is reserved for pc players till the console release is the only downside I can see here really. But honestly I never look at this though I can't relate to how important that is for others.
