Odyssey VR specific bug reports - please contribute!

UI bug is a complete... thanks FDev; not sure how you managed that one. In any case, I mapped "6" to "Comms" rather than "2" for external and I can at least wing up and whatnot. Losing faith.
Thanks for contributing to the issue report - I hadn’t noticed that they were Horizons specific 😅

It’s not cool that squashed Odyssey bugs cause bug-splatter onto Horizons!

Ive recreated a report for the different textures on terrain at a distance in each eye as it had expired.

https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/43109

Ive also posted another thread outside of this thread so that it doesnt clutter this one to try and pinpoint what config is causing it.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...across-terrain-textures-at-a-distance.590401/

Theres also a video linked in that thread which clearly shows the problem.
Thanks for taking the time to resubmit the issue - I kept an eye out (well both, actually 😁) for it but didn’t see any instances of if beyond the orbit-height shimmer early on in Odyssey’s release. The mid-distance landscape shimmer is much improved this Update but looks to be linked to aliasing according to the patch notes, so a separate issue to what you’re experiencing.

I don’t suppose you could give me a System and some coordinates of where you’re seeing it? I tried visiting different types of worlds last time you posted the issue but I’ve not seen it then or since.

I’ve made an amendment to https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/43050 - VR System Map stars have gone dark; looking through Issue Tracker for previous reportings of this issue (I was sure I’d read about it earlier in Odyssey) I found a comment about deleting GPUworktable.xml in the Odyssey folder - this has brought System Map stars back for me 😁

I’ve noted this in the issue report but left in the part about the blue atmosphere rings being too small on non-landable planets.

The two Horizons headlook comms panel bugs that cropped up the other day - a later issue report for the same problem has got the required confirmations and can be voted for:

I’ll move the two VR reports into the duplicate section. @willisit - this may be of interest to you 👍
Many thanks. I have voted. My Squad refuse to buy EDO (I'm a LEPer) so I'm continuing my Odyssey in Horizons (I'm hilarious, I know). At least for now. The hotkey fix works well enough for us but isn't it odd how FDev managed that?

So there are a pair of things I feel may be worth mentioning here...

First of all: The free-line-of-sight starburst seems to be a viewer-tracking sprite, but when you occlude the disc of the star (...or disable lens flares), the resulting dampening of it reveals there is a smaller starburst "behind" it, for the corona, which does not roll with the camera...

Then: There seems to be another issue with the sprite camera tracking, in additional to the unwanted roll: It would appear sprites are not rotated in such a way that they face the viewer directly, but instead match the world space orientation of the viewer, so if you stand among e.g. a lot of steaming geysers, their respective steam cloud quads are not swivelled like a gawking crowd staring at your smoking car-wreck in the centre, but to all be parallel with the viewplane, giving them a distinct "cardboard cutout" look.

I.e: If I look north, the normals of all sprites will face due south - not only the ones right in front of me, but the ones out to my side and behind me as well. This looks stranger and stranger the larger your field of view is.

I posted the following issue report since the latest update:

There is no VR when not on foot - the game is stuck in 2D projection when in headset

It must be something I am doing wrong or the forums would be all over this...
I replied in the other thread before seeing this post, so I’ll repost my reply:

Have your 3D Graphics Options changed to HMD Cinema by any chance?

That puts you in the virtual flatscreen at all times - if you have HMD Headphones or HMD Speakers selected then you should automatically change back to full VR when not on foot.

(On a side-note: I was disappointed to see the FSS didn’t have orbit lines or zoom transitions when using HMD Cinema - surely it should just be like the normal flatscreen game? Hopefully the long-standing bug will be sorted out for normal VR now it’s on the Top 20 list 🤞)

Thanks for the response. I have tried all of the available settings (including HMD Speakers and HMD Headphones) but all to no avail. Still stuck in flat screen projection.

That’s very odd then! I see that you’re on the stand-alone launcher, but what headset are you using?

That is odd then.

Possibly worth checking the graphics/settings file.

IE the number here:

<StereoscopicMode>N</StereoscopicMode>

Should correspond to whatever menu setting you’re on.

FSS orbit lines (https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/204) has moved up to position 12 in the most recent Top 20 list 👍

Having just filtered Issue Tracker to show the most voted for Acknowledged bugs, all our VR issues are in the top 100 out of 233 with most of them sat between the 70 to 100 positions.

If you’ve got any spare votes, please spare a couple of minutes to do the biz, and while you’re on Issue Tracker please consider adding a Confirmation to any outstanding VR problems. The SRV disappearing shadow and spot shadows moving with HMD movement are really annoying hint hint hint 😉😁
