Omg.. Imp Slaves

It's almost certainly tied to the slave revolt. Whatever's happening there is sending ripples through the markets, though I'm pretty sure the yo-yo in price between 10k and 16k is not intended.

But if player actions are alternating between one side winning and losing, I could see it. The local base price is just reacting to the galactic average as far as I can see.

Imperial slaves got a bit messed up after they were introduced. They were a very good money earner in the "recession" for a while, but trading them broke the demand and turned those stations into suppliers after an update, destroying the profit margin. I must have traded about 20,000t of them before then, breaking quite a few stations, and I bet others traded a lot more. It explained the slave delivery missions you could collect in stations that sold them.

Posted about this before in the backwards trading thread. Thought FD would just wipe all the excess stock, but this solution is better. I'd wager once all the cheap "second hand" slaves are bought and sold the gold rush will disappear, so fill your boots commanders!

There is something hugely wrong here.
I was transporting Imperial Slaves from station A to station B in the same system. Station A had a supplu of 14k slaves for 11k each - average price. Station A buying at 16k.
After a few trips , Station B was now selling them at the same price of station B. So I went to station C to sell at 15.6k, again the same sytem.
After 2 trips, Station A was no longer selling slaves and buying them at 15.6k.

Where did the 14k slaves go ? no way that they have all been sold.

This is a good thing. Short term opportunities, no reliable route grind. Good luck commanders :)

While I agree, that fluctuations/market changes are good in itself, the current possible profits are a bit extreme. It nearly reaches the level of the rare trading profits.

If players can potentially make profits without taking off (and hence taking a risk of being shot at), this can be seen as an exploit.

But due to the current season, I personally see this as a Christmas present:cool:.

Edit: Scratch the potentially, it is possible to make profit w/o take-off.

It has to be a bug. I am seeing the prices glitch both ways for me and against. I went to sell a load of Imperial Slaves and just as I was about to click sell, I realized it was for a huge loss. The station was a demand-only market at 10,000Cr. I closed the market and reopened, and the sell price was corrected.

I have ticketed it (#00000013569) and asked, whether this is working as intended during/due to the Sorbago story.

Sorry, if this or a following fix ruins peoples Christmas credits making.

Edit: As FD seem to work the holidays with a bare bone crew (apparently Mike and some support staff), I wonder, if it gets attention before the new year.

ehmm ... just a quick question.
Those slaves are in unit of ton or person ?
Can't imagine how are they stored to be of any use.

You see with bit of tuning you should be able to put 8 tons of cargo into a sidewinder.
But Human body is just not heavy enough to put that many in such small hull.
And they are slaves, not sardines, you need them alive.

I pictured each unit to be one slave in some stasis/life support pod that weighs one tonne

Whereas I pictured 88 tons of slaves packed into my hold.
They pay very well even though it's a putrid mess of dead bodies in my hold when I get there.
Really shouldn't cook my hull up to 145% on the temp scale when fuelling er up :p

It's Christmas day people, look after those slaves, perhaps an extra portion of Turkey for them at lunchtime.

Basted and cooked over an open sun..

I'll have a portion of that turkey while I wait for my slaves to cook :)
